We’re 4 friends planning a trip to Greece in late April, 2026, and have about 5 days to get from Thessaloniki to Athens. We’d love to find a quiet, pretty small town that we can explore and venture out of for day trips. We’re photographers and walkers, and somewhere that’s rich in traditional handcrafts would be a bonus. We’d be grateful for any suggestions!

We have completed several housesits in Greece, mostly on Crete. Indeed we’re traveling tomorrow towards a further Crete housesit. Happy times.
Assuming that you’re asking about housesitting … we find that Schengen listings, on average, tend to be listed much nearer to start date than in North America or UK. So we have to be adaptable to evolving opportunity. That may be pragmatically challenging for a group of four friends that presumably book vacation time, flights, etc will in advance. That said, there are exceptions to most rules. Encourage that you setup Saved Search for Greece and your ballpark dates; enable notifications; and get a sense of the number and profile of listings. It’ll be a trickle rather than a flood - radically fewer sits than UK, US, Canada.
We cannot comment on how a Pet Parent would regard four vacation friends as housesitters. Probably depends on the pet responsibilities and your approach.
