Does Age Matter - Do owners pay attention to a sitter's age?

The post that was moderated was definitely missing the word “not”. My typo. My point was that I’m against any non-relevant potentially discriminatory information being listed on a sitter’s profile automatically. I apologize to anyone who was offended. It was offensive without the “not.” That was not my intention.

From what I received in a msg from moderators, the problem was raising a subject that’s against forum guidelines, which they edited out of your msg and my reply. It wasn’t your missing “not.” Personally, I wasn’t bothered by your post. I don’t know whether anyone else was.

Back to the original question in the thread: Many sitters of various ages do well on THS, but it appears that younger sitters tend to have a harder time landing their first or early sits.

My own experiences and observations are that older sitters tend to get more automatic trust from the start. It’s often assumed that we’re more responsible. Also, a number of us have owned our homes, and that carries weight with some HOs.

Don’t we all believe we look at least a decade younger?

haha, I was gonna say the same thing, and don’t wish to offend the posters, but to me you look in your 30’s (and what a cute couple you are!).

I think age probably is an occassional factor if on the very young or the 65+ side. with very young sitters (I’m talking early 20’s) owners might think there was a lack of experience, common sense, perhaps more inclination towards partying etc (I’m definitely not saying that IS true, just that it might be a perception). And on the older side if there are super active pets, owners might think there could be fitness or mobility issues (again NOT saying that is true! I know full well there are people in their 70’s who could outrun me in my 40’s, haha).

You are right smack in the middle-- very much the sweet zone! I highly doubt it is in any way a factor.

In my 40’s, I have sat for people both older, younger, and same age as me, never felt they gave any thought to my age other than I’m not on one of the two extreme ends.
