I think pet sitters will be replaced by robots one day. I’ve had two sits where the cat had automatic feeders and automatic cat litter boxes. My only job was to open a can of wet food in the evening. As soon as they market a robot that can do that, no more human sitters, ha.
so will the pets, in fact they already are 
This is not unlikely. I remember discussing stuff about jobs AI will do in the future with a client who worked in AI in a leadership role, who talked about the various ways AI could help disabled and aging humans to be more independent in terms of tasks that are now done with the help of human assistants.
There are some problems now that I have as a sitter with auto-litter boxes and feeders. I don’t have either for my own cats. I don’t free feed them. I separate them at meal times. And the thing is: I know exactly what each one eats, and how much. I also can tell their stools apart, and the likelihood based on which box used of which one having urinary issues I also weigh them but not as much as I should. Once the machines get more fine tuned and can give readouts on that stuff, it’s the next step.
I’ve had to stop myself buying one of these!
Those are scams with AI videos. A search of “robot [puppy/kitten/bunny] scam” can be entertaining.
I mean, this is kinda cute IF that was what one wanted in the first place 
I had a sit where the automatic feeder also had a voice recording so that whenever it was about to release food, they would hear their owner’s voice.

One of the ones I had fed them three times a day. You would hear the PP’s voice say, OK (insert cat’s name) it is time to eat. The first time I heard that I was upstairs and the feeder is downstairs. I just heard the PP’s voice and couldn’t make out what they were saying but for a minute I thought they arrived home early and didn’t tell me.
