We are applying for both depending on the time we have. Domestic is normally easier to arrange, International needs to be longer and better planned.

We’re also ‘nomads,’ so the distinction only applies based on where we are at the moment. We’ve been fortunate to have our visas extended multiple times in multiple countries due to COVID, so we can avoid traveling too much. I hope THS considers a way for us to indicate this on our profile in the future. This seems particularly important in terms of covid, when someone may be located in a particular country for a long time, even though their profile says they’re from another country.

Hi @ere welcome to our forum as @anon36831737 says you can change your location, which many nomads do. We are so glad you have joined and look forward to hearing about your travels and experiences, you must have many wonderful memories of pets, people and places.
After an incredibly challenging year for full time travellers, curios to know if this has this changed the way you view your nomadic lifestyles? There are nomads who have decided to put down roots once again.

Domestic for us in France now (unless it’s easy to cross close-by Euro borders). We’ve just come back to the UK for a quick visit to pick up last of our belongings and see family, and the tests and home isolation package is so expensive (and badly run) - it will have cost us almost £600 for two of us by time we get back to France in a couple of weeks.
Yesterday it was reported that even vaccinated people will need to have both a leaving and entry test for “green” rated countries. It’s a lot cheaper in Europe (our French tests were free), but our thoughts are to just enjoy sits in France - we’ve already done 3 this year, with 3 more booked in some amazing locations. We will definitely consider international again one day when the world has decided how to re-invent travel without continual changes to the systems 
We are hanging up our “nomad” shoes for a bit, but not forever! I have to say, now we’ve made that decision to settle more, I feel much more relaxed.

We’ve just started applying for domestic sits here in the UK again. We’ve only done 3 sits so far, all in the UK and it seems sensible to continue this in 2021.

Thank you @Angela_L & @anon36831737. I was actually referring to something a little more complex. I’ve had homeowners tell me that they sort based on location (which makes sense), but if I know I’m going to be in X country in three months, there’s no way to indicate that on the profile. Moreover, we had one awkward situation where a sitter thought we were UK permanent residents when we showed up and we had to explain our complicated nomad/covid situation. That wasn’t a big deal because we could explain, but I having the ability to say we’ll be in X country between these dates would be enormously helpful. Thanks for reading!

I am applying for just UK sits this year so am not relying on air or ferry travel. If my application reaches the communication stage, then I find out where the HO is going before I commit. If they are staying in the UK then it is less likely to be cancelled due to Covid.
Whilst writing, I am sure I have seen a sitter on this thread posting a photo of themselves in Scotland with 2 dogs called Rory and Ollie. I now cannot find it. Could this be the same two black labradors that we have sat for in Balquidder?

It’s domestic sits at present here in Australia! Although I’m longing to return to the UK to continue sitting over there and seeing loved ones, I can’t see international travel being made available to us this year, especially with the very slow roll-out of our vaccine program. The best we could hope for is a sit in New Zealand.

I am staying mainland Scotland which is fine by me.
I have 2 sits agreed within 30 miles of home in Auld Reekie
( Edinburgh Scotland) . Happy just to be pet sitting.

HI @fyfie I’m in Cove, Helensburgh have been here since March 27th 2020 … no sits for almost 15 months, pet withdrawal has been, gone and come back again, many times!
Matt and I are booked solid in the United States through 15 November 2021. We may dog sit part of November 2021 through February 2022 in Sarasota, Florida. We hope to travel abroad when we have free time.
