Dreaming of travel and housesits

I also sit and read all the HO listings and dream of April 2022 when we pack up and leave the US for 5+ months. I’ve been retired since 12/19 and waiting patiently for my partner-in-crime to wrap up his career in Feb/Mar. 2022. We are counting down the days until we are on the road again!!!

We love cruising, particularly transatlantic to Europe. Now that we have unlimited time, we’ve booked almost 2 months onboard, around the Mediterranean, before landing in Rome. We will be more than ready for some land vacation time and thought THS would be a great way to discover various local lifestyles. Before discovering this website last week, we’d planned to spend the summer months overseas. Can’t believe pet sitting offers so many amazing locations for our adventures!!!

oh how wonderful! I have not done a transatlantic yet but it is on the agenda. I did do an 11 day Mediterranean cruise out of Rome and back. It was breathtakingly absofab amazing. Spent a week in Civitavecchia and took a train into Rome. Afterwards took a quick flight and spent a week in Santorini.
It’s an incredible life. I wish you much joy and happiness in your new adventures.

Thank you-cruising is an amazing way to travel. We are accustomed to vacations that end with us rushing home to get back to work. This slower approach, will be an incredible change to our way of travel. We figure after visiting all those ports, we can decide where we’d like to spend an extensive period of time in the future.

Still thinking about Kazakhstan?
I was on an earthwatch project in Kenya many years ago - there probably wasn’t a real possibility of a coup, but the day I was leaving the country(at about midnight) there was a ‘lock down’ and the hotel advised guests not to go out that day.

Do it and now.

I have just received some very bad news about a close family member this morning. It has made me even more determined to do it all. I’m not going to be lying on my deaths bed muttering “if only I had ……”

I’m so sorry to hear that @ElsieDownie … those moments serve to give us reality checks putting things into perspective. Thinking of you.

From the Do Lectures, the author of Vagabonding, Rolph Potts shares Time=Wealth.

What a wonderful thread is this. Going through the discussion gave me the feeling of world travel. I like to travel the different offbeat locations where I can enjoy to the fullest and capture some interesting moments that could improve my Photography book.

@Amparo I completely agree with this thought, the only true wealth that you can have in your life is your time. Hence we should travel to and maximum possible destinations and spread the love as much as we can.

Beach travel destinations are my favorite locations. Where you can enjoy the buzz of waves and relax. As I stay in India I have visited Goa many times and every time I visit I discover new things. This time I tried famous casino cruises in Goa and it was one of the best trips of Goa.

Your profile link is for a hotel…:rage:.

I’m 100% ok with links to blogs or th profiles but not hotels etc.

@Vanessa_A can you clarify please.

I have my Airbnb profile linked to the THS as I thought it gave the homeowners even more information and lots more reviews about me. There is an official button on the profile page and I assumed it was ok.
It isn’t a hotel.

Hi @TheMapleKiwi this is a public Forum and as long as links do not break any code regarding content or our terms of use, then they are allowed on an individual’s profile.
We do monitor of course.

Apologies, @TheMapleKiwi I’m only just back online this morning and thanks to Angela for clarifying. As she says we do monitor links to ensure they are relevant to the person joining in whatever way that might be, but it’s not limited to a THS link. All the best, Vanessa

As the world slowly opens up, let us try to remember some basics we may have forgotten. For those that haven’t travelled internationally in a while here is the best most excellent video I have found to review.
Some things have changed but some have not.
Enjoy the journey and don’t forget to smile.
