After 64 countries, all continents except Antarctica, and all 50 US states, you might think the list of places I’d love to go to would be dwindling. But it’s not. There are so many great places to be seen and experienced, and several times a week I read about new places I hadn’t considered but that sound amazing. So many places, so little time.
The picture above shows some of my current wish list places. I’ve found that by periodically creating / updating my list I remind myself to dream big. That I can go to these amazing places if I only get myself organized and make it a priority. That’s helped me knock one or a few off my list every year.
How about you? Where do you dream of going?
What an awesome list!! We had the good fortune of living in Phoenix for many years and taking several lengthy west coast roadtrips – driving all the way to Seattle and beyond - exploring Bainbridge Island. It was stunning!
And Edinburgh we had the good fortune of spending a month there in covid times. It felt like being able to go to Disneyland on a day when it was closed. Truly felt like a once in a lifetime opportunity to have the city to ourselves and it’s a memory I treasure so much.
Upstate NYC is so gorgeous. I also lived in NYC for a year and it remains one of my favorite cities. It’s so walkable and can feel like such a small town even though it’s obviously massive. So much green space to get lost in and so many incredible water front lounge spaces.
I’ve only been to 15 countries so far. I’d love to explore all of the Scandinavian countries. Estonia looks incredibly beautiful. And I’m keen to explore all of the balkins. Japan. New Zealand. Australia. So many places!
Greece, Africa, Galapagos, as well as a return to Scotland, and Croatia. There are a few others yet those are top.
I’ve been to 21 countries and have lived in all regions of the U.S. for various durations. I also lived in the Swiss Alps for two years which afforded me the opportunity to travel there and neighboring countries. I’m a west coast California gal, yet the nomad in me has taken me to many places. I tend to travel intuitively and visit places I feel a pull to. The world is like one big school.of adventure and learning.
@Catgoddess_99 I couldn’t have said it any better!
I have a bucket list but, tbh, if I was struck down with a terminal disease and couldn’t do any more travelling I’d be very happy with what I’ve done so far. Honestly! There are a few places, and I’m not going to list them, as it doesn’t matter if I don’t get to them in this life! I’m pretty satisfied!
Hi @Smiley. Yes, I agree I’m very satisfied with where I’ve been. In fact when my husband and I returned to the States from our around-the-world adventure the first thing we talked about was how, if we died tomorrow, we would die happy, as we’d been able to see and do so much more than we ever expected we would.
All these years later we still feel that way. Until the day comes when we can no longer travel, we’ll continue dreaming as part of our travel-planning process. Because dreaming adds magic to our travels, and looking back to realize we’ve achieved our dreams reminds us what we can accomplish if we try. And how truly fortunate we are.
@Karen_E So far I have visited 53 countries and 19 States of the US and hubby has visited 93 countries and 23 States of the US.
We both would love to visit Fiji and Svalbard in Norway and the US States of Virginia, Hawaii and Montana although we are aiming to visit all of the US States.
The trouble is we have a never ending list still of places to visit, even places we have already visited we still have a long “to do” list!
@Samox24 what a great problem to have! You, my friend, are truly living a wonderful life.
Where do you dream of going?
Wherever I’m heading next. I’m living my dream.
My view from my bedroom window this morning. Placitas, NM
@ElsieDownie Beautiful… enjoy!
Khiva, Uzbekistan. And I’m going in May!
@Lindsay Uzbekistan! Wow, I’m impressed. You do dream big. Please come back to the forum during/after your trip and let us know how it was. Pictures would also be great.
@Samox24 Montana is amazing! That’s a great item to have on your list. I’ve never heard of Svalbard in Norway. Why is it on your list?
@Katie.And.Kris Edinburgh while no one was around does sound magical. I love that city, but it was packed when I was there.
I love that you said that NYC can feel like such a small town even though it’s obviously massive. That’s the perfect way to describe why I love it so!
Yes you are my friend!
@Karen_E Isolated on the polar archipelago of Svalbard at 78 degrees north, Longyearbyen is the world’s northernmost permanent settlement which is halfway between mainland Norway and the North Pole. It is also one of the best places in the world to see polar bears in the wild so will certainly make for an interesting visit!
@Samox24 And great Northern Lights, I’m guessing!
@Karen_E ahh most definitely!
During the winter months, Svalbard goes through a period known as the Polar Night, which is when the sun doesn’t rise for more than 24 hours. This enables you to experience the mystical green light dancing high above the Arctic winter wilderness at any time of the day. Amazing!!
Outside of Longyearbyen, the only lighting provided is by the moon, the stars and the aurora so the perfect place!
