@Dennis what a wonderful story and pic. I myself enjoy those conversations and connections with people where language barriers exist but courtesy and warmth connect us.

Great post! When you Sit with friends, are they also THS members?
They arenât. Actually one of the ladyâs daughters became a TH a while ago. I referred her.
My post to the HO just said, âThis is probably a long shot, but 2 friends and I have a Hiking Ladies Road Trip planned and the Columbia Gorge and Victoria, BC are the two places we want to explore. We are 3 mature women who are all homeowners and I have a lot of experience on this site both as a HO and a petsitter.â
I invited her to look up my home listing as well to get a sense of how I take care of a place. She had a couple of applicants but she got back to me quickly and said she has a 3 bedroom house, a lazy but healthy older dog and an elusive cat so we could have time to hike as long as we gave them food, water, left the dog and cat door open and take the dog on two walks.
We had a FaceTime call the next day and she confirmed that we were the choice. it was the easiest Sit Iâve ever applied for on TH.
We leave tomorrow and will miss Frody. He thought he died and went to heaven with 3 women giving him neck rubs and attention. Sadly Peeps the cat didnât come around much mainly because of the dog (they are fairly new to each other). Possibly 3 people she didnât know, didnât help. He did come in for dinner each nightâjust when we were in our rooms. He had a bed in the garage that he could go to.
It was the perfect sit for what we wanted to do each day and for always being close enough to take care of the petsâ physical and emotional needs. Couldnât have gone better including the communication with the HO and me.

Agreed. Sitting here in a posh London suburb with a fresh brew in the garden under blues skies! Two easy care cats and all the comforts of home. A week of lovely activities planned out in the nearby area.
Just out of interest I priced some of the hotels close by. A minimum of 700 usd for a dive. More like 1500 usd for a decent room. Weve only had one or two less than perfect sits and soour batting average is quite good. Forever grateful for the many benefits housesitting brings us.
