Separately, another sign of a terrific host: One of my upcoming hosts a couple of days ago sent me a long email about things to do, see, eat and shop. It included info on which neighborhoods or store locations are most enjoyable, safer, etc.
I’m a full-time telecommuter, and they’re sharing their own telecommuting desk space with me, but they also don’t expect me to never or rarely leave the sit home.
I stay at home more than most sitters, because I work remotely, plus I’m a couch potato, but I avoid listings / sits where hosts want someone to stay home all the time. That’s because if I stay at home out of choice, that’s one thing. But if I were required to, then it would feel like prison. And to me, why would I voluntarily pay to fly anywhere to be held hostage? Better to pick other hosts or to stay home or to pay for a hotel, if so.
