You see, I’m fine with being declined, I just think it’s so discourteous to not send a quick msg with the decline msg and even worse to not respond to my message asking for feedback.
Folk are strange.
Oh, okay. I thought the system might work both ways ….!
My thoughts exactly.
Really ….?
Our msg makes it clear that it’s optional but I would think most sitters would.
Not arguing about it. Just answering a question. And maybe pointing out that this percieved “lack of humanity” as I’ve seen it called on threads, is just someone following the procedures as they understand them.
I agree folks are strange.
Possibly they aren’t (despite notifications) checking the email from THS once the get a sitter.
I’ve had all sorts of communication glitches because of unread mail through the system. I sometimes send previous sitters emails inviting them to a new sit before taking the listing public. I’ve had sitters NOT respond to those emails and then apply through the regular listing for those sits!
I don’t see in what way you could have taken that as an argument.
Thank you for your comments.
Well, I think I’m going to get upset shortly…., we’ve only had 1 application per sit advertised. Those who have more are greedy imo! I’m scared that if I wait for more, I’ll lose the interest I’ve got. Having said that, our sitters we’ve got booked look great and the ones we’ve had were perfect.
We usually get accepted very quickly, in fact I can only think of two HO’s in the last 10 months that have declined us. We only started in May 2023 and we sit full time. Why don’t you pop your profile on here so others can perhaps give you some tips to help your profile.
We love animals, but also I think it depends on your reason for wanting to visit an area. We sit in two countries, namely England and Spain, and in England we mainly sit within a 2 hour drive of our home so HO’s know we are highly likely to turn up when we say we will (over those sitters that catch a flight, rely on public transport, or simply don’t know the area), and in Spain we have family as our son and his family live there, so again HO’s will presume that we are highly likely to show up when we say we will, because our reason for being in Spain over a different country is to visit our son, so we aren’t likely to cancel and are huuugely likely to want to return to sit too. So for those reasons I think HO’s see us as very dependable and reliable, which we are, and I think they form that opinion before they even chat with us.
