Just sharing a photo of our piece of heaven in Scotland: 1 strong Rhodesian Ridgeback of 13 months who really loves a lot of exercise and attention, 1 of 3 cats who is brave enough to be an equal force towards this dog.
There are also 9 chickens - of we see most of the time 8 and gives us every day fresh eggs - and 1 fish of about 1 cm.
Super grateful for enjoying a work holiday here. We are able to work on our computers and take care of the pets.
I also want to advise that if you are a HO and your pet isn’t able to be alone for long or absolutely not, be honest. There will be pet sitters for whom it will be perfect. If you are not honest about expectations you will create not-so-happy-situations.

Looks wonderful and obviously suits you.
So how long can the RR be left for?
The cat looks as big as the dog!

The cat looks bigger because she is more in the front of the picture. It was quite a challenge to get these moving two both in the picture.
The HO said that the dog can be alone for a few hours because she sleeps a lot and has her own ‘doghouse’ and she has also a dog walker when we want to go out for a longer time.
At this moment we have lots of online work to do so we have days at home with all the animals near us - now literally on our lap (cat) and dog besides us - and do short walks/runs nearby, and there are days when we go out for long hikes (dog is comfortable in back of our car) and find dog-friendly places to drink coffee or have our coffee outdoors using a thermos bottle.

Welcome to Scotland, the best small country in the world, YES I am biased. Was this on one of the islands?

@EmilyDickinson, not sure of your location but great post and super enthusiasm. We totally support your shout-out in regards duratiin of time that pets can be left. More broadly, we find that open transparency enhances the fit & experience, and surprises (pets, property, use of car, amenities, ..,) can create avoidable friction and a transactional mindset.
We’re excited at spending significant time housesitting in Scotland, starting later this month, with two confirmed housesits of above-average duration.

No, North of Scotland. The very, very North. And I fully understand your biases

@EmilyDickinson, surely Scotland is a tropical place
Jealous of North Scotland location. We looked at some housesits on western isles, up north, and even orkney/shetland but couldn’t make it work. Short duration, absence of car, other challenges but we’ll continue to explore. But will shortly say hi to Nessy
. Enjoy your adventures.
