2 rifles…. But no bear spray
Oh gosh… that reminded me… neighbours having target practice in their back yard, next door, with what seemed to be a whole car trunk-full of guns!
Try also command Alexa with a strong accent that she doesn’t understand sometimes
We had a house sit with a dog call “Electra”.
The sweet dog mostly ignored any commands we gave her, however the Amazon Alexa did respond !!!
Resulting in some fun and bizarre moments
Strange. That must happen to your hosts, too. I wonder why they don’t just change Alexa’s name, which is pretty easy to do.
Tangentially, I sat one home where they named a pair of lamps Calvin and Hobbes, like the comic strip. Amusing, but I prefer places where they name them stuff like “living room light,” which is easier to remember.
I was scanning this thread to see if you might have mentioned Mustafas snake encounter, after we said thedogs kept out the snakes. .
And I never understood why one would iron something before storing it behind closed doors. (Nor for whatever other reason)
The snake story is still folklore in our house but didn’t want to put off future sitters for your off grid adventure as he was very friendly
Ironing is so last century! #snakestories
I’m SO intrigued by this snake story!!
So, we were on day two of our famous 4-week house sit up in northern Thailand with @MiqueFrançois& there was a beautiful big lizard hanging out above our bed in the treehouse. Mustafa went downstairs for an outdoor shower, and as he looked up at the shower head, said lizard was now in the mouth of a 2 metre golden tree snake and it was coiled around the shower! He was back up those stairs faster than the speed of lighting & when he told Mieke she said he was extremely lucky to have seen it and good fortune would come to us…..this is said snake. We have had lots of great adventures & luck since. Note that the said snake is not really very poisonous to humans. #snaketails
Thank you for sharing, @Cuttlefish! I feel like I’d have reacted the same way
And all this happened right after we assured Mustafa that our dogs were perfectly capable of keeping the snakes off our property. But apparently, not all of them.
(The record of fastest guesthouse stairs climbing is still in his hands)
