@mollsyA I’ve really enjoyed the comaradery on the forum and learning so much from experienced sitters who are so generous with their advice and sharing their stories
Oh, that’s wonderful!
@Cuttlefish @DeeMcC @ziggy adding to the twisties lookalikes internationally… Trader Joes in the US have a truffle and cheese twisties style flavoured snack that was AMAZING. So folks in the US, you can easily get a twisties ‘like’ fix.
We need a whoop whoop emoji!! #niceworkgabba
A sign of the things to come on this sit @DeeMcC unfortunately. Now I would have seen red flags when the HO asked if she needed to leave a bottle of wine for me as she preferred not to!!!
Hey @Cuttlefish @Gabba and other Twistie aficionados! I was just filling in my hubby on this entertaining tangent and he remembered reading that Malta is a potential birthplace of Twisties - so @Cuttlefish, the Turkey connection is strong indeed!
@Gabba - hold me back!! Truffle and cheese!!! Far superior than the “Twisted Raspberry” and “Sweet and Sour” concoctions that Twisties released
Imagine how she would’ve responded if you’d replied “yes please” @richten1 !!
Sounds like you’ve gotten yourself a good Sit. It’s all about a great experience for both sides, right? As for all the goodies, we too leave as much as possible for our Sitters when needed. We stock the refrigerator, leave some liquor, and fill the car’s tank. In our minds, it’s the least we as owners can do as we are deriving the better deal by having a qualified Sitter watch our pets and home and not having to shell out big money.
Every sit and every HO is different.
I had one lady who walked me through her house, showed me a refrigerator loaded with fresh food, a deep freezer full of steaks, chicken, pork, bread, vegetables—anything you can think of—a pantry stocked with whatever you could dream of, the most amazing bar, and her wine cellar. Then she said: “Use whatever you want.” I had about three HOs that gave me full access (with the exception alcohol usually) and encouraged me to use everything. One even bought groceries especially for me on my 2nd sit with her cats.
On the other end of the spectrum are people who say you can use the salt, pepper, sugar, and oil, but bring everything else with you.
Most people fall somewhere in between: “Use pantry items and kitchen essentials, eat the perishables and the food in open containers in the fridge,” etc. Some might say you can eat what’s in the fridge but ask that you replace it before they return.
The bottom line is, you need to ask questions to get a clear idea of what they’re comfortable with and what resources you’re allowed to consume or use.
Where are you? I wanna sit for you!!!
By the way, the HOs that had the most stringent rules about what they allowed me to use are wonderful people and we became personal friends, and the one with the freezer and the bar turned out to be a generous but unpleasant person and we got into a bit of a conflict about some aspects of the sit…
