We tried to train our cats to use the toilet, but with multiple cats, you can’t not have a litterbox available during the training. No success.
Anyone else have experience? Any tips? Can you also train them to flush when done? Do they prefer one or two-ply toilet paper (kidding)
I can just hear me yelling, Fluffy, hurry up, I have to use the toilet!
We have sat for 2 cats that used the toilet and were rewarded for number 2’s. I was not impressed at being woken up at 4.30am by proud meows expecting a treat! The hosts are trying to toilet train the cat we’ll look after starting this weekend. I hope they fail and have to revert to a box beforewe get there. All the reading I’ve done says its not good for the cats as when its just the toilet (ie. All the litter is gone) they get distressed as they cant cover their waste. That was my observation with the cats we cared for. They were continually scraping the inside of the bowl after relieving themselves and seemed unhappy they weren’t successful at covering it.

Animal faeces can contain Toxocara (roundworm), which is able to survive the high temperatures of the final digestion stage used in wastewater treatment at UK waste water treatment facilities.
Out of curiosity, I did a quick search for U.S. treatment:
