Hello ! I have just joined the site today and have spent a fair amount of time today creating my first sit.
However, when I look at Preview it has a ‘family friendly’ tag which I don’t want. I have gone through all the sections and there is no where to switch it off.
Due to anxious pets I do not want children as part of the sit or guests. I can not see anywhere to update the guest policy. Advice on forums is it should be in the ‘your home’ section. It is not in mine.
So basically how do I fix this. Do I need to submit the listing first then edit it ?
If you are working from the app, try the desktop version. If you are working from the desktop version, try the app. For some reason they have slightly different functionality.
Either way, I would clearly state in your listing itself that your pets are anxious and therefore you cannot accommodate families, guests, or sitters bringing their own pets.
Even after this you still get the occasional family applying. I just decline them right away. But stating it in the listing does reduce it quite a bit.
Hello I am newish too and I see that it’s easy to select those 2 particular preferences at least on the desktop/website version. Not sure about the phone app.
Go to “Listing” then scroll to the bottom and Sitter Preferences and Guest Policy are right there at the bottom, you can choose no guests and no families or allow kids but you can pick an age range.
I’ve never seen the allowable age range of children shown in a listing. Surely the company should make a notation that this is currently not being displayed when the listing goes live? We’ve seen this before, where owners understandably think that if they select a preference that the sitters will see it in the listing.
I expect some solo sitters will not appreciate the bias against solo sitters in this section. Is the smaller print statement really necessary?
@Snowbird I have children listed on my sitter profile. When a host has selected the age range that my children fall within, I see
“Open to applications with families with children age 13 - 17”
This appears in the “Highlights” section at the top of the listing. The parr where THS attempts to show that you are a "match* for the listing. You woukd only see it if you had selected “Travelling with chikdren” in your profile.
Hi, Mark. Are you essentially saying it’s not possible to change this setting until after the listing is final/posted? Because the guest policy/family policy thing isn’t even visible (on the app or desktop) for me. I’m just making my first listing.
Not quite. Once you’ve added all the most important information to your listing, it’s sent over to our Member Service (MS) team for review.
During this review period, you can update your preferences. Hopefully the screenshots included in this post will help.
The first pic shows the on screen message when you’ve completed the important sit info and the details are sent to Member Services for review (Update preferences button is available on the screen). You can update the preferences immediately, and do not have to wait until the MS team have published your sit.
The second and third picture shows some of the questions which are asked, to help find the right match; for you, your home and pet(s).
