Hi, we are new to the site. We thought we would give trusted house sitters a try after our pet sitter has moved away and is no longer sitting. We have 2 family weddings so require 2 weekend sits at the moment. If it goes well, we may try for a week later down the line. Do sitters want to sit for just a weekend? I’m not sure if we have got our profile right so any advice on this or our advert for sitters would be really appreciated. Thank you.
Hello @gillS and welcome to the forum. This is a great place to get answers from our seasoned members who can help you with most anything that might arise.
Your question has been asked many times and I can attest to the fact that short sits are usually quite easy to fill as are the longer ones. Short sits are great for those sitters who are transitioning from one sit to another and can easily fill in a weekend or even longer when waiting to start their next one.
I took a look at your listing and can tell you it is quite thorough with you covering most questions sitters might have. You have given great info in regards to the local area as well as your adorable three pups habits and needs. The only other thing I can think of right now would be to add your member listing to your forum listing so it is easy to find and that much easier for potential sitters to apply and give feedback. To do so, just click here at How to add a listing or profile link to your FORUM profile - Welcome & Getting Started - TrustedHousesitters Community Forum and follow the easy instructions.
Good luck with all your future travels!
We too are new or were in October, having seen and not used THS for years, then a friend recommended and so we gave it a try. It’s been great and we’ve done both long and short times away. The last one was at short notice and yet we had immediate applications even though it was only for 3 nights. We’ve also had a sitter for a three week period and next week sitters are arriving for 6 weeks! So far, wonderful and the cats are happy in their own home so I can relax and not worry.
Hello @gillS and a warm welcome to the Community Forum
As @Debbie-L mentioned, there are sitters that prefer varying lengths of sits and short and long sits are both very popular! I have attached a thread regarding this that you should find helpful.
Also, remember you can use the spyglass symbol at the top of the page next to the TrustedHousesitters logo and search for any questions that you may have as they have most likely already been answered on here and of course if not then please just ask!
I have attached a link and a thread that you should find helpful whilst confirming your first sitter/s.
Also, I have attached a thread below, it would be great if you could join in with this as we think you could offer great feedback and your input would be a great addition
Sure. You can find sitters for just a weekend. People become sitters for all different reasons including the love of animals, of course. You may find people who have a business trip in your area and want to extend over the weekend or people visiting family for a weekend but want a separate space and also people who really miss having pets and simply like to do a sit close to home for a change of pace. I hope you’ll have some wonderful experiences!
