I do literally nothing with it because I found it so clunky to use. Maybe I should take another look at it!
Itās pretty easy on the website. I havenāt tried on the app.
If I go to My Dashboard, this is what I see. To add or delete dates, I just click Manage Availability.
Oh I am that ātypeā!
I am really concerned about having the right person for the sit - I donāt want someone who is going to stick their fingers in the boysā ears and try to persuade me that they like it, when clearly they donāt, or spend the day in London and get back late when the boys are really hungry. I need the right person or couple.
I was spoiled by having Pete as my first sitter and I so wish he was still around. He was wonderful.
Thank you Bunnycat - I have tried to change my listingās title but have failed dismally
Oh - thanks!
Yeah just took a look and added availability for the first time in years. Still think itās super basic but I guess it does the job. A Google calendar integration would be great.
I actually travel more than I donāt. When Iām around my home base , I have A LOT of availability.
Maybe but a lot of people might not have/use google calendar (like me). Iām a Mac person and have everything on my integrated Apple calendar. (And Iām not interested in sharing that either tbh.)
All I really need on THS is to show the blocks of time Iām available, but itās not a huge deal to me. If itās something thatās important for other people, like F/T sitters, I can appreciate there might be a bigger need.
In a perfect world, there would be a choice of calendar integration - or the option not to use one at all.
Welcome Sam1, have you thought of just contacting the ones who have given you a āheartā symbol.
I didnāt know that was a āthingā !
Iāve sorted it, with some online help from āVictorā. It now reads āTwo gorgeous moggies near Stonehenge in a comfortable little houseā but editing it was buried way down the list of editable items, rather than at the top where one would expect it to be!
Hi @Sam1 Iāve just looked at your listing and you have included lovely photos, thorough descriptions of your home and location plus the responsibilities.
I did notice you mentioned you wanted an experienced sitter/couple with good reviews and I understand this. However with owners having difficulty securing sitters, you might like to think about this requirement so that new sitters with relevant references have the opportunity to start their pet sitting lifestyle. Your second sitter after all was a new sitter and an international one. We all have to start somewhere at sitting and I am grateful to an English couple who gave me my first sit back in 2016, and I was coming from Australia. Iāll be in England this year again but your dates are too early for me.
My boys are too precious for me to allow someone to cut their sitting teeth on them!
Fair enough @Sam1 as I did read you had had an unsatisfactory outcome with that sitter. All the best in getting an experienced, well reviewed sitter for your cats.
You bring up an interesting point that has cropped up before and, like other sitters, Iāve given up using the calendar because when I have owners havenāt always looked at itā¦ā¦
Itās occurred to me that I wonder if THS could look into this situation. When sitters have sits confirmed, the dates appear on their dashboard. I wonder if thereās a way for those dates to be made available to owners as they look at potential last minute sitters so they donāt waste time applying to sitters who arenāt available? It would probably be very complicated and take a year to sort out but would be useful to owners.
@Angela_L or @Snowbird can you please suggest this to the appropriate THS staff when theyāve finished their conference perhaps?
I keep my availability up to date through my laptop, I donāt know if that is any different on the app as I rarely use it. Nevertheless, I still occasionally get invites for dates Iām not available. I donāt mind, because if itās a sit that looks interesting, it gives me the opportunity to ask owners to keep me in mind for the future.
I donāt know how to either.
@Sallyann Here are the instructions:
