Hi, at a sit where the dog is pooping every other day in the house. Dog has full house access: furniture, rooms, etc.
Nothing mentioned in listing. Only in house guide after I agreed to sit.
I think the person neglected to get a joint shot before a 2 week trip. And that the dog is becoming comfortable pooping anywhere it wants.
No doggy diapers or pet pads.
I feel sick to my stomach, because the dog also needs grooming, dental, and makes dry vomiting noises. Just feels so unclean with it wandering in and out of the kitchen, dining, on the sofa, etc.

Oh no! I’m so sorry for you and can understand what a dreadful time you must be having. The owner has been misleading by not mentioning it in the listing and not sending the guide before you accepted the sit. I believe you are well within your rights to give THS and the owner 24 hours notice that you’ll be leaving the sit so the owner has a chance to make alternative arrangements. How much longer is the sit?

You can - and maybe should - give notice and leave.
Have you adressed this to the host. Has the host given advice on how they handle it?
Is this poop or diarrhea? How many times a day? From my dogs, they poop 1, maybe two times a day. If diarrhea, you could also contact the THS vet line.
If you choose to stay, I would do as I would with my own dog if that happens:
Choose some rooms where we’ll be and close doors to others (choose rooms with easy to clean surfaces).
Walks more often and/or longer. Many dogs (as with people) needs exercise in order to «go». For pooping I would say it usually will occur after a meal or first in the morning - provided a good, long walk.

I have seen HO with older dogs not disclose clearly in the listing.
Then they say, oh this is new when you bring it up. Say they need to update the listing and never do.
I think when senior dogs have mjor issues they know it is a bit harder to secure the right sitter and even take advantage of really good sitter knowing they will do the right thing

Put down a few disposable doggie pads that I got in town
Please include the incontinence in your review so other sitters don’t walk in blind. Often sitters complain, but it turns out they don’t mention issues and they contribute to the problem, enabling hosts who lie, misrepresent or such.

I totally agree – sense a lot of sitters skirt around controversy for feel of retaliation in a poor review
