Is this an Income making program

Is this Dog and House sitting forum pay any income for watching the home and the dog? I am just wondering, because Imwas a pastors wife for 38 years in the state of South Carolina. And am looking for ways to make extra income, as well as travel some and enjoy the company of pers.

In a word No - travel and living costs are down to the sitter as well.

How does it all work?

TrustedHousesitters is an introductory platform for a global pet-loving community. We enable pet parents to connect with care-oriented sitters who will sit for free in exchange for the chance to spend time with some wonderful pets and for free accommodation. Our community allows pet-lovers to travel and pet parents the chance to go away with peace of mind

There’s an annual subscription to join the community, and this gives you unlimited access to the site. So as a pet parent, you can post as many dates as you like to find a sitter throughout the year, while as a sitter, you can apply to as many sits as you like and connect with lots of different pet parents.

Welcome @Melodydeese - no the sitter doesn’t get paid any money and is responsible for their own travel expences .

However they do get a “free” place to stay in exchange for providing “free” house and pet sitting .

The platform was originally set up to facilitate travel ,and is still used by the majority of sitters as a travel experience .

The TrustedHouseSitters company makes money out of this because both sitters and hosts pay an annual membership fee to join .

I can recommend THS as a travel experience, we have done 30+ sits and stayed in some amazing homes and locations in exchange for taking care of some lovable pets .

It is a way to save money on travel, but you won’t get paid to sit and will have to pay your own expenses to get to a sit. If you have pets and you are going on a vacation, you can use THS to save money on petcare for your pets in your home.

@Melodydeese, nope.
The housesitting community seems surprising diverse in terms of personal situation and underlying objectives. Some people take local housesits to get a mini-vacation from their everyday lives/property. Some people take housesits to travel affordably. Some people take housesits to reduce their expense base, perhaps with no permanent residential address. Probably more too.
There are multiple platforms for housesitting. THS is founded on a no-cash trade between homeowner/pet parent and housesitter. Pet Parent can voluntarily offer some form of gift, financial or otherwise. But a housesitter is prohibited from proactively requiring compensation.
In our travels, we have met multiple housesitters that use other platforms to generate income. R&ver seems popular and can offer various service types (e.g. drop-in, walk, overnight). To my knowledge, such use tends to relate to housesitting in a local environment.
Good luck on your adventures.
