It's International Beauty Day - share something beautiful!

Hello everyone,

I just found out today that it’s International Beauty Day, and while it’s a day that came about to celebrate physical beauty, beauty doesn’t have to mean what a person looks like, so I thought it’d be fun for us all to share something beautiful, to brighten up our day!

You’ll know the famous saying “beauty is in the eye of the beholder” - and seeing everyone’s idea of beauty might help us learn something about each other.

Beauty can also be a place, a photo, a moment, a song, a poem, an animal… I’d love for you all to share something beautiful in the replies.

For me, beauty is always rooted in nature, and in the moon. The photo I’ve used above is one that I took from the roadside on the way home from a local fairground.

Looking forward to seeing what you all have to share.

Jenny

I am just back from a sit in the Scottish Borders, so beautiful and peaceful. Most of the tourists have gone

its pretty empty in the countryside

I’m so pleased you enjoyed the Scottish Borders! I’m in Galashiels, and recognised Scott’s View in your photos - one of my favourite spots!

I have been in Selkirk for the last 2 weeks and last year at this time I was in Kelso. I did a lot of Walter Scott related things and went into Edinburgh twice on the Borders railway

We’ve just spent a month in Albania @Jenny and these hay creations in the fields up in the Albanian Alps fascinated us. Kept taking pics  #beautyintheeyeofthebeholder

Is that a haystack meant to shed rain?

Still not quite sure of the purpose @Maggie8K, am going to go for the Albanian version of a hay bale #butitsanyonesguess

In the U.S., back in olden days, farmers would create haystacks to shed rain — that form was supposed to keep the inner straw from getting wet and rotting. But I think nowadays people have equipment to bale hay so they roll, or stack it in rectangles and cover it.

@Cuttlefish We also admired the haystacks while we were traveling in the Balkans. Check out this link with photos and the history/purpose of the haystacks

@Cuttlefish I did a tour through the Balkans in 2022 and these haystacks were absolutely everywhere. I asked the guide what they were and he was quite  that I didn’t know they were haystacks! I’m going to Albania again in October, any recommendations?
