Jobs for cats?

Surfaced on Facebook and I don’t know if it’s true, but this made me laugh. If I had jobs to dole out to animals, I don’t think I’d start with a cat.

You can’t “give” a cat a job, but cats create their own jobs. Our dearly departed tuxedo was our emotional support. He trained himself to come whenever one of us was physically ill or emotionally down. He would respond to the phrase: “I need a cat!”

Our tabby, greets anyone who comes to the house and entertains maintenance workers by playing with their shoelaces. He is helpful at assisting in demoes when sitters come for handovers.

Our dear departed former senior cat, an oversized Russian Blue with gravitus, was very calm at the veterinarian and would have made a great demo cat for home medical proccedures – sub que injections, pilling, taking temperature, and the like.

Budge the cat is Norwich Cathedral’s very special feline friend. Budge, who lives in the Cathedral Close, first wandered into the Cathedral during the 2018 Good Friday service and has made the Cathedral his second home ever since. A lot of Cathedrals and National Trust places in the UK have cats in residence.

This cat worked for 15 years on a tower in Germany, scaring off pigeons and keeping the tower clean. She got paid for it too (only the best food and the city council paid for it). She lived in the tower too. Now she is retired.
