A couple applied twice for our sit but didn’t answer my messages either time so I’ve declined them twice now. I don’t know why they bother. We’ve finally received a few applicants for our sit.

How long after they applied and didn’t reply to your message did you decline them, and what do you gain by declining them? Unless your application queue is full then what’s the point, maybe they’re busy and just didn’t get a chance to get back to you right away.
You might get more bites if you refresh the listing a bit, maybe add a couple of warm, day-in-the-life type photos and a clearer sense of what makes your spot comfy. Long sits can feel like a big commitment for some folks, so calling out any perks like easy transport, quiet space to work, or fun neighborhood spots might help. Sometimes a tiny tweak can get the ball rolling again.
