Listings slipping through the Net

Even at the lowly rate of $1 per listing I still reckon we’d do okay

Goodness sakes.

I just forwarded another listing to support.

It is a housesit in Ontario, Canada but the HO isn’t seeking a sitter, they are seeking petsits for themselves in the Netherlands for July and August!

Talk about backwards

so ridiculous. and she is a cat whisperer. Jeez.

ONLY 2 photos, both of cats.

so THS want £9 extra from each of us, sitters and pet owners, to keep things running smoothly and they can’t even check basics of a listing. it’s a joke.

I have seen a few of the pet owners I previously sat for now have their profile marked as “inactive” so it is not just us sitters who are fed up with this site, it is home owners too.

Operation SELF DESTRUCT - AN INSIDE JOB, is well underway since 8th December 2025.

nice one THS!

Related to inconsistent or inaccurate information in the listings: HOs, please update your heading so it doesn’t say “Stay over Christmas” when the sit is for May (for example) or talk about stuff to do in a completely different season. I’ve seen some sort of OK sits go begging when they’ve been up for a while yet the HO hasn’t updated anything

I haven’t figured out how to select the “no pets” filter along with all the other pets I selected. It seems to be either no pets or pets but not both, so I have to remember to do searches separately for no-pet sits. I only use the app; do you use a computer? I wonder if they’re set up differently.

@Treeandcathugger you have to set up a saved search & select only “no pets” then you will get app notifications for every sit listing with no pets. I don’t bother selecting a date range or location in my saved search as there aren’t very many no pets sits, maybe a 1-3 per week worldwide. I also use the app most of the time.

Bahaha – they have one applicant!
I would love to read that application.
So is that someone else who doesn’t know how it works, or someone trying to get on the radar for the “if we need a sitter we’ll let you know” part of the listing? I’m confused… :face_with_spiral_eyes:

I think this looks like an effort to get around the dual sitter/owner membership fee.

I’ve actually done this! I have on occasion (because I’m a bored, bitter loner, with nothing better to do) - written to a couple of housesits, saying that I’m not applying but offering friendly advice. Such as ‘don’t make your first photo a sideways pic of an open-seat toilet’, or ‘you should show some photos of the house, not just 25 of Fido out in the fields’.

I replied to one which said Cavalier Sitter required, I suggested they changed it to serious sitters required for my King Charles Cavalier Spaniels

another had a photo of a lovely double bed, but sitter was to use a sofa bed. she thought pictures were “just to show what the house looked like”, I told her NO, it’s to show us the bed we will be sleeping in, and the areas we will use. She did change it, and still wanted me to come sit for her, but I still said no, as I felt she was being misleading.

I really cannot stand the open toilet pic.

I saw one recently that showed a nice double bed but also a small office with a sofa bed (really one of those with cushions on the floor) – the listing stated that the “sofa bed” was for the sitter. And this was a long sit. Hey, maybe someone will not mind; it was a good location.

In another listing, it was a studio with three active cats. One reviewer stated that she could not sleep as a result. All others didn’t mention it. Sometimes I think people who want to stay again (for location, usually) will fail to note anything less than glowing.

Just seen a listing which obviously slipped through the net.
Sitter profile, no photos at all but it does say where they live and their full name is in the title.

Just spotted this one wanting sitter for recurring dates

‘open to someone becoming a general support person for my work and personal life if that’s a fit’

4 senior dogs, some wear diapers, some are chewers, can be left for uo to 3 hours and … drumroll please … often has other foster dogs in residence

presumably first time HO as no previous reviews

Where is the mutual exchange?

OMG, totally unrealistic, any yet allowed to post on the site

THS get your act together

@RedLassie I have no doubt that what forum members take time to list here is just the tip of the iceberg. However, their website in part still claims:

Our booking fees at work, or not.

@Snowbird yup, and then when we give a 5 star rating as sitters or Pet owners they go fishing for compliments , looking for reviews on Trust Pilot, trying to ride on the success of our sit, which they played no part in other than connecting us. I am now counting the weeks until my membership expires and I am outta here.

@MaggieUU Report the listing? (If you aren’t comfortable with that, please DM me the listing and I’ll report it!)

It’s so cringe-worthy obvious that THS does not check listings before they go live.

Geez. :face_without_mouth:

Did they offer “valuable professional experience & a written endorsement upon satisfactory completion of a 12-month internship” as part of the exchange?

Is the team human?, I wonder??
