I think this has been brought up before as a frustration over the years, and yet still, even with all the other changes, THS hasn’t fixed it…
I currently have a search saved for a city, and I get notifications when a sit comes in a neighbouring county. It wastes my time opening it, and it happens constantly. I’m always baffled when I get a notification or search results for somewhere miles and miles from where I’m searching.
Can THS change the location search to be more accurate? I imagine they do it this way so sits very more views, but honestly it’s annoying and inaccurate. Give people the option to tweak their search if they’re happy compromise on proximity to where they want to be, but don’t force it.
When a HO creates a listing, the instructions are to, “for security reasons”, not put the exact location but rather the nearest town. I ignored that and left the map marker on my exact location.
In the USA, I have had much better luck searching by County rather than by City. In the San Francisco Bay Area, there are many counties. If I search “San Francisco County,” it cuts out a lot of the other nearby Sits.
However, if an Owner who lives in a nearby County actually chooses San Francisco as their location City (even though it is completely wrong, for example, they really live in Oakland, which is across a long bridge, in a different County), this dishonest Owner’s listing will still come up in your search.
