There is no guarantee. What are you waiting for.
Good to know. I will PM you one that has 51+ applicants and has not read my application.
Hi there, this is my first post so hope im doing it right! I have applied for a sit and had one message asking if i was taking my daughter, (she is on my profile and it is clear she would be coming with me). I have replied but not had a reply back. I just wondered, how long do you wait before you are either confirmed as sitter or not. Many thanks! Allison
Some HOs never respond. It’s best to apply to multiple sits at one time. I’ve found that submitting an application and then archiving that conversation works best for me. Then I don’t dwell on sits that never responded and I keep moving forward. And if/when the HOs respond, it’ll appear back in my inbox as a new message. But you should definitely not wait unless you’ve had an interview and they’ve told you they’ll be making a decision by x date. Good luck!
Hiya, thank you for your reply. I like the archive idea! Then like you say, they are not sitting there! I will need to not feel bad if I apply for a couple and have to then turn an applied one down! Lol!
Yeah. I am an out of sight out of mind person so once I hit archive, I really don’t think of it again. But if it’s sitting there lingering I’ll check to see if they read it, I’ll check to see how many applications they have, etc. It’s really rather ridiculous.
Welcome to the forum @Ajsunny and all looks good with your first post You’ll find lots of tips on this thread from our members’ experiences about applying for sits, but do also have a look around the blog too if you are new to the process. There’s lots of great guidance, like this one…
Look forward to hearing about your first sit with your daughter, very soon!!
As a homeowner looking for sitters I do respond as soon as I get an application. I also tend to go with the first, or one of the first, to apply, unless I get bad vibes from the application. I also let sitters know if I am not going to select them, either because there is something about their application that won’t work for me such as they plan to bring a pet with them (and right now I request that they be vaccinated and bolstered.). I do feel bad when I have to turn down a sitter which obviously I have to do when I have multiple applications.
Bravo @ShirleyE ! I wish they were all like you. It is considerate to get back to applicants one way or the other as soon as possible.
