Murphy's Law Always When Expecting A Sitter

To each their own. Too much eating out doesn’t agree with our health goals and we love our home and yard and meals at home are just so calming.

That’s the beauty of DoorDash — you can have whatever you like at home, without any cooking. :joy: I even order from them when staying at hotels. To me, cooking is a waste of time.

Glad you like it. Not for me.

Wow, that’s some welcome basket! Maybe I’m not doing the right sits, but here in the UK and a few countries in Europe that sort of package is far from common. Even though I’m a Brit I could tell immediately from the nearby stores listed that you’re in California and not Browning Montana. I did an off grid month long sit in Glacier National Park and was invited to eat as much elk steak as I could from the freezer. Shot and prepped by the owners.

It feels like there’s an appetite for it! We don’t have TJ here in the UK, but every time I hear about it, I really want to visit, so I’d love to hear everyone share their favourites

@Jenny TJ’s ships to the UK, don’t they? If so… :face_savoring_food:

Funny our trip next week (which is why we are hosting sitters) is to the UK and Ireland! Perhaps I should pack a suitcase full of Trader Joe’s goodies and set up a street stall!!!

It seems to me that most things go wrong DURING a sit!

This morning’s visit from Mr. Murphy: ice maker is leaking. We turned it off and have some old-school ice cube trays to use so we may leave it at that until we return from our trip.

Yep, 2 days before I was driving to Florida for a month long pet sit….my washing machine was leaking!

Well that is serendipitous. My local groomer/pet store just stopped carrying the tasty chicken-chips that my dog absolutely adores, and I was fretting about what to get her in its place.

Trader Joe’s, here I come…thanks @Maggie8K !

Glad to help.

I discovered them while doing a THS sit. I grabbed some while getting food for myself and asked my hosts whether it would be OK to give the chips to their dog and they said, sure. Turns out he was mad for them, so I bought some for my dog later. He’s nuts for them, too.

Chicken chips…you can’t eat just one!

A checkout guy at a Trader Joe’s told me that the employees were trying out dog treats in the break room. :squinting_face_with_tongue:

I’m loving the TJ chat, and wanted to invite you all over here to share “what’s your go-to grocery store when you’re travelling?

All is now clean and tidy, the guest room looks very welcoming, and I sprayed the backyard perimeter with a spray to keep the critters away (don’t love using it but we have to, otherwise we get overrun with ants since we back up to a natural area).

Sitters are on the train and we will pick them up in a few hours. Now I get a nice afternoon siesta!

It’s so nice when all the prep is finally done!

And now fortune has turned my way.

I won the lottery for LA28 Olympics resident pre-sale tickets. My time slot to buy is Saturday (this is before they open sales to the general public so I should have a good selection of events to pick from!!!)

@felinelover We had today at 4pm. We were only interested in Tennis, but they were so expensive, we decided not to buy. I would have spent the money on slightly cheaper seats, but my husband said you can’t see the ball from that far away. A few of my friends got time slots today too and they purchased soccer, volleyball, swimming, diving and one other sport. None of us purchased opening or closing ceremonies. I might have thought about if it was at Sofi Stadium instead of the LA Coliseum. Last time I was there was for Bruce Springsteen’s “Born in the USA” tour. Really bad part of LA.

Yeah I think there are a lot of sports that you can actually enjoy better watching at home on TV!

My niece is an avid equestrian so we want those tickets for sure. The rest we’ll play by ear. Would love beach volleyball but it’s in Long Beach, so will depend on the prices. Would love to snag some baseball tickets too!

I’m guessing opening and closing ceremonies will be ridiculously priced so will take a peek but probably pass….

@Felinelover ok now I’m going to the Women’s Final for Diving. One of my girlfriends bought tickets and my husband doesn’t want to go, so I’m going.

I went back to the website to see how much the tickets are for opening and closing ceremony. The cheap seats are not on sale yet. Opening ceremony at the Coliseum is not available yet, only at Sofi. Starting price per ticket is $2600 USD!
