New 14 day reporting system not a one size fits all solution

Thankyou for sharing your story which demonstrates the unforeseen variables that can arise in a sit Its great that Trusted House sitters allowed your sit dates to play out til the end before you needed to leave a review which sadly hasnt happened in this case and which I have asked for Also lovely of you to allow the sitters to stay on in your home even when you werent there !! Well done

Your original post suggested that you left the sit because of traffic noise, not because of illness. If people were being unsympathetic or “missing the point”, it’s because the facts weren’t clear. You edited post is very different to the original version

The OP with subsequent replies by the OP give much insight.

What would this accomplish at this point? At best, the HOs would leave the same review they already have (which, if I’m understanding, you haven’t seen yet) at a later date. At worst, they’ll leave a less positive review for having to go through the trouble of leaving their review twice. I fail to see a scenario that the HOs are going to come home and be so blown away at the condition of their house that they forget that the sit ended early and they had to scramble for another solution.

Most importantly: what if the current review reflects empathy for your situation and understanding for the departure? Why assume it’s bad if you did everything in your power to make a smooth transition to whatever the backup pet care was?

I’m sorry but if I were the pet parent, you would have automatically gotten a 1 Star no matter how clean the house was. If I were you, I would have gone to the store and bought an air purification system and always had it running next to me and wore ear plugs when sleeping if the car noises were keeping you awake. If I were cheeky enough, possibly ask the pet parent to pay for it. Or use the cheaper route, wear a mask. Anything but abandon the sit.

The OP has asked for the removal of this thread, so we will be closing this topic now.
Thank you.
