New Orleans Jazz Fest Tips?

Oh, yeah! Quincy certainly knows how to do so many musical genres well, blues included. What an amazing talent he is. What a life he’s lived. Thanks for the reminder of Q’s Jook Joint @Angela_L. You and Quincy have me swaying to the music as I type this! :trumpet: :musical_note:

We are there for the first weekend. I grew up just out from Nola, left when I got married in 1989. We would visit my parents yearly until Katrina. They moved away after that storm. I have been back sporadically - our last visit in 2017. Haven’t been to Jazz Fest since 2006.

I’ll have to check out the Juke Joint Fest. That sounds awesome - and I bet the BBQ is amazing!!!

I’ve been twice. Friends invited me for the 1st week this year. I have too much work at that time.
The last one I attended (2018?) was a bit of a bust. It flooded and was shut down. I missed out on seeing Stevie Wonder, and I got a tiny plastic splinter in my foot. So on that note, bring rubber boots!
Keep in mind that once you’re in, that’s it for the day. It is too tough to get there and back to go more than once/day.

Oh @Katie I’m sorry to hear about that splinter. That sounds painful! Thanks for the advice about boots. Maybe I’ll wear my hiking shoes.

Just looked it up. It was 2016! Ages ago.
Lines for food are fairly long, and there’s often not a lot of shade. So bring snacks and own shade if possible. Also consider a small tarp or similar for when the heavens open up.
If it gets really muddy, prepare to toss out whatever shoes you’ve worn.

Snacks! Thanks @Katie. I’ve been so focused on the fact you can’t bring drinks in other than factory sealed bottles of water that I didn’t even look into whether you can bring food in. Thanks for that tip!

Hi all!! I’ll be arriving from Colombia next Tuesday (23rd). I’ll me on my own (traveling from Colombia). If anyone wants to meet up would be great! Do any of you have recommendations for buying the tickets for the festival? Is there an official website? Is better yo but for the whole weekend or by day? Thanks!!
