No response for my listings - Any Advice

I’ve used TH to find sitters for a couple years now. I used to get 3+ applicants / dates posted but now my last 2 have had 0. Nothing has changed with my pups or home. All the reviews I have are 4 and 5 stars (21 sits total)

Are there less sitters interested? Less people traveling and looking for sits in general? Any feedback is appreciated.

It could just be the dates. I’ve seen a lot of listings for Thanksgiving and many US sitters may be spending the holiday with family.

My initial thoughts:

  1. Dates. Lots of HO’s listing for holidays, so there is competition.
  2. Area. The area might not be a destination due to hurricanes in certain SE regions. Even if you weren’t directly affected, people might just be avoiding.
  3. Details. You aren’t clear about details for the pets, like how long they can be left alone. In fact, you allude to them not being able to be left alone.

Three large dogs can be hard for many folks to manage.

Just my $.02:

  • holidays are massively competitive. You really have to be at the top of your game as many people want to be with their family for holidays.
  • your dates are only 6 nights. many people set their filter for a week so they won’t even see your sit. you should extend it before/after if you can to make it 7 nights.
  • november isn’t very beachy I think so maybe find another highlight for your title?
  • given recent events, most people will think most of Florida is trashed. you should address the current state of your area in your listing. but also that’s still during hurricane season and given how it’s been this year, people might be rightfully leery.
  • specify how long the dogs can be left alone before they get “mischievous”? how are they in cars? can sitters take them with to explore the area? can they go to the beach? how long is the walk? how is the area for walking (so much of the US is awful for walking)?

Thank you for your feedback! Last dates were in summer September so I chalked it up to getting back to school conflicts and such. Time of year hasn’t mattered in the past. Thank you again!

Thank you for your feedback! Last dates were in summer September so I chalked it up to getting back to school conflicts and such but understand that both could be due to hurrican season and impacts this year. None at all here (very lucky)! Time of year hasn’t mattered in the past.

I’ll update the post about amount of time they can be left alone. I specify it in the welcome guide but will add it to the listing!

Thank you again!

Thank you for the $.02 - that’s exactly what I was looking for and appreciate you taking the time to respond. I’ve edited my listing with a note about recent hurricanes and how long the pups can be left alone. Previously i just had the button option select (up to 6 hours) but included that verbiage now.
Thank you again!

Glad it could help. Unfortunately that button you check when setting up your profile isn’t actually shared with sitters so you have to state it. Only the gods know why… Good luck!

I am surprised that you don’t have more. Maybe it is the hurricane fear. I have been looking for FL sits in Jan and Feb and they are posted for less than 24 hours due to demand. They get 5 applicants very quickly.

Thank you for your feedback! I’ll have sits coming up in January posted soon so please keep the place in mind if you are still looking!
