Number of applications

Is there a way to see how many people have also applied to a sit? My account shows already applied and if i pull up the site on the web it tells me to sign up to apply. Just curious

No, unfortunately THS have removed that function so you can’t tell anymore if you’re first or last of the 5. #baffling

Before I apply I can see no. of applicants that have already applied to a sit. After I have applied I can no longer see number of appl. (in the app).

This has been mentioned before
If you click on the spy glass and type in “Number of applicants in all threads” you will see other comments

If you aren’t a member, I don’t think you can see that. BUT honestly, most sits in super-desirable locations fill up on applicants quickly. There’s a five applicant rule so if the host gets five they need to start declining folks if they want to see more applicants. I live in NYC and usually get 5 applicants within 10 minutes.

I don’t like this new “feature” either. I still want to know how many applicants they have after applying. What’s the competition - are there no others or 4 others - are they waiting until they hit 5 to respond or set up calls?

Seems they can have the “you already applied” note AND the number of applicants. Don’t see why they’d need to remove that piece of info.

I can’t see the point either.

I also agree that knowing how applications increase or get stuck can be useful for sitters.

Perhaps some hosts prefer it not to be transparent. When I was able to see the number of applicants, a couple of new hosts said they had quite a few applications but I knew that could not be, at least in THS

At least that by the status of the sit (open or reviewing), you know if there are 5 applicants or not. However, given that some HOs wait until they get the full 5 applicants, a sitter has no idea how long they may be waiting for a response from the owner.

Would be great if HOs would simply acknowledge a submitted application. If my status is unknown for too many days, I’ll withdraw my app. Doesn’t help the HO.

Not really, HOs can review before reaching the 5 applications. If applicants are writing simultaneously, the number can also be higher.

I would think (hope) that those HOs who are reviewing applications as they come in, would also be notifying the sitters who they are interested in.

Basically, don’t let the good sitters get away.
