Pet sitter emergency tags

I’m new here so apologize I’m fumbling my way through. I’m a pet-sitter in Indiana with a large customer base. I’m concerned about dogs who Houdini their way out of their harnesses and are a threat to running off. I want to put “I’m with a pet sitter” tags with my phone # on all my dogs when they come to stay. Then, I can move the tags from dog to dog as they come to stay at my house. Unfortunately, I can’t afford to personalize with their first name. Everything I see out there looks like cheap metal where the engraving won’t last. Does anyone know of a quality product, or even a different way to address this issue? I don’t want to put a scan tag on their collar because I service an over 55 community where many would not know to use the scan tag if they found a roaming dog. Thank you for any ideas. I hope I posted this is the right place.

So on this forum, we are are housesitting at the pet’s home. If a dog runs off (has happened to me only once, when I let him off the leash for the first time), it went home and waited there for me.

I think what you would want in your case is an airtag or something similar, so that you can trace the gps position of the dog.

I find the dog tags that slide on the collar great (THS will probably not allow the external link I’m about to post but if you google 'dog takes that slide on collar you’ll see what I mean).

BTW it’s not a good idea to put a dog’s name on the tag anyway as it makes it easier for them to be stolen (a dog will/may come more readily if their name is used by a stranger). I just have my surname, phone number and address on mine (I often have my brother’s or friends dogs to stay, who don’t know my area as well so I worry they may get lost).

I got a tag engraved with “dog sitter” and my phone number. I can remove the tag with the end of every sit. It cost something like 10 bucks and is identical to the one on my own dog. He’s been wearing it for years without problems.

Thank you for the idea of dog tags that slide on the collar. How would I address the fact that there are many widths of dog collars? Just buy it in several widths?

The rubber ones that slide on come in different sizes and with some give. We used one for our dog originally, but it eventually broke. We then went with a metal one instead.

The one I have actually has ‘rubber ends’ so there’s some flexibility for the size of collar but, yes, you’d have to have a few to cover larger and smaller collars in your case.
