Pool & Hot Tub Oversight?

and that they have to maintain. It’d be different if it was drained and closed for the season. But ‘here, I need you to care for this amenity so it’s in great shape when I return - but you’re not allowed to use it’ would be pretty offputting.

@i8ShrimpToday I’m a swimming teacher and have a pool plant qualification, which is probably overkill for most domestic pools!

I’ve done a few sits with pools or hot tubs and always been allowed to use them unless they were shut down for the winter. I wouldn’t want to be maintaining a pool or hot tub we weren’t allowed to use, it would be like being at work with no pay and no benefits!

Some places can be off limits for the petsitter to use. That’s not weird.
And you can expect that the petsitter cleans the places (s)he stayed in/ used before leaving.

But…it is not the duty of a petsitter to clean or maintain those off limits places. For that you need a housekeeper/ property keeper.

But there will certainly be people who don’t mind housekeeping the places that are off-limits for them.
There are also housesits without pets, because people don’t want their home being uninhabited.
It just has to be an equal trade…what do you have to offer what makes it worth to come petsitting and housekeeping at your place.
And one of the things could be the use of the hottub.

(I f.e. have a comfortable home myself in a touristic environment, but no hottub, so it would nice to experience this)

Alright then, thank you. I don’t believe a sitter is a good option for me.
