Pop-in Visits versus Sleeping Overnight

To be fair, there are websites like ‘borrowmydogggy’ which exists specifically to allow non pet owners to enjoy the company of pets for free by taking them for walks etc (there’s usually more people wanting to ‘borrow’ than there are pets available).

Perhaps these owners assume there is a similar interest from sitters on THS…(obviously despite the T’S and c’s).

Seems a reach when “Housesitters” is part of the platform’s name. Not saying a mistake couldn’t happen, but that would be pretty goofy.

I have just seen a sit where the HO wants a sitter for two consecutive days but to be there only during the day ( to walk the dog for 2 hours and keep them company for 8 hours on the first day and 10 hours on the second day ) but not to stay the night since the house is going to be full of guests at night . On the second day the sitter is expected to stay until 10pm at night but again not permitted to stay over .

Obvs have reported this ridiculous listing . But I am struggling to understand who they think would want to do this for FREE / where is the mutual exchange in this arrangement?

Some people don’t understand the concept of an exchange. They want what they want and the world apparently is supposed to revolve around them. They never bother to think about the other party’s perspective.

I just saw one of these sits last night - a homeowner looking for a sitter just for a few hours, not overnight. I send the link via email to THS but heard nothing back and now see there is an applicant.

So much for THS vetting each listing. LOL

If you like, please DM the listing to me and I’ll also report it.

Perhaps it’s not an application but just a message

The listing has been amended to a one night sit.

Well, OK then! LOL
