Product updates

Hi @Robert

We have had the option of Airbnb/Linkedin profiles being linked to your profile since July 2020, however, these were not visible on App profile and only shown on web. We are working through discrepancies on the platform to align feature sets.

Why do we have Airbnb/LinkedIn profiles, it is all about having ‘trust capital’ Trusted Housesitters have to facilitate and make it easy for owners and sitters to trust each other. By adding such social proof it helps Sitters secure a Sit.

Thanks, Ben

Hi Robert,

I hear your concerns, we have added sort options which is allowing users to re-order the results. This gives you more options to sort how you want to view listings. It really depends on the criteria you have.

For example:

  • Searching for Cardiff location and you want a central location then select, ‘Distance sort order’.
  • If you want to have an increased chance of securing the sit that you apply for, then select ‘Recommended’
  • If it’s about seeing the latest Sit that have just been added select ‘New’

Over the coming months, we will continue to iterate and improve search.

Many Thanks, Ben

My wife and I search for longer sits and one things I’d like to see is are two additions to the search feature.

  1. Add some more options for duration. Right now, it jumps from one month to six months. Even just adding three months would make a big difference but if possible, adding two months, three months four months, five months would simplify the search. But as I said, three months would really help separate things.

and/or

  1. Add way to organize the search results by duration.

Thanks!

Thanks for trying to explain all of this Ben. Like others have expressed, I am not interested in the recommended sits, but this seems to be the default setting on the web page and the user has to manually change it every time they open the page. Am I missing something, or is there a way to set the default to “newest” so every time we go on (which sadly with the 5 app update is way more often than I would like!) we do not have to remember to change the sort order? Or give users a setting option to do so?

Thanks

“The reccomended feed is useful for members who aren’t exactly sure what they want. These are sits you are most likely to secure as these have low number of applications”

I’m surprised that there are that many members who are not sure what they are looking for that a recommended filter would be needed. And as far as low application filter, if we can see it that means it’s less than 5. I think that’s a low number. Last minute , new , & relisted because of cancelation, those are useful feeds

I want to know this, too. “Recommended” sits will never be useful to me, so I want to be able to set the filter permanently for “Newest.”

@Betsy I agree with you and @Freebird. Also, I have a saved search that sends me a daily email. When I click on the bottom of that email (today’s example below):

it doesn’t take me to the new sits, but rather to the recommended sits. I then have to go to the ‘select by’ filter and select the newest. 'This is definitely misleading, and yet another instance of being controlling on the part of TrustedHousesitters.

I find this very patronizing. Does THS really think that it knows what we want better than we do? This filter has just started showing on my page today and it is really irritating - like so many of the alleged “improvements” that shall not be named :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

@Lassie I feel the same way!

Hi @Snowbird, this morning I have those filters so combined memberships have obviously received this update! Do I want to see “Recommended” sits first though?? No! Simple process with one click to change to “New” though.

You can do this if you bookmark the website with those filters set. This is what I did, and here is the URL: House Sitting | TrustedHousesitters.com

Very cool, thanks!

Very clever, @Lassie!

But yes, it would be great if saved searches also included the “sort by” selection. It just seems natural from the user’s perspective. Tagging @Ben-ProductManager.

Lassie, I tried that but that filter is not saving on my ipad book mark unfortunately. It does work when I directly click from your link.

When I seach for New York City I’m so tired of seeing Connecticut and New Jersey listings. Often 30 miles from NYC.
If they are not NYC they should be not showing up. If I want to explore whats nearby I’ll open the map. NYC is Manhattan and the other boroughs.

@Ben-ProductManager . When I get to the “not looking for a sitter” heading shouldn’t I see ALL the “reviewing” listings before I start seeing the listings that haven’t been looking in months". As of now the “reviewing” listings are mixed in with the other not lookings.

Love the relisted & last minute options. Like the new, if in fact they are new and not boosted old ones that get the new label.

Thanks Ben, much appreciated.

Tobhelp my understanding, are the new ones actually new, or are they the old ones where premium members can boost to the top using the NEW tag?

I saved the filters I wanted (new, duration, pets) on my iPad, created a new THS bookmark, then deleted the old one. A bit fiddly, but it works fine now. No more ‘recommended’!
