Questions before video call re health

Hope they don’t receive or impart any dreaded lurgies on their trip or when they come back!

As with so much here in THS, it may well be that this particular HO is concerned because of a previous situation.
On one Sit the HO mentioned they liked our profile because it shows us being active: discovered they’d had Sitters who seemed fine yet turned were incapable of taking the stairs more than 1ce or 2ce a day…
The home was clearly described in HO’s Post as being THREE levels, with the kitchen, dining room, living room on the middle level; bedrooms & bathrooms on the top level.
Physical limitations can be true of people of any age!
We don’t discount a Sit because of something “odd” in the Post but will ask point-blank why the “odd” thing is in the post!
And if we don’t get an answer we think makes sense? THEN consider it a Red Flag. Otherwise? Assume it’s a reaction to a prior Sitter’s behaviour.

BRAVO ElsieDownie! Too many people don’t grab the chance to change their lives until that chance is gone. Admire you made your choices & contrats on proving the prognosis wrong! Happy trails.

I wouldn’t mind a host asking, because I’d figure it had to do with navigating a sit. Otherwise, I don’t see normal people caring about a stranger’s health enough to ask in these circumstances.

Personally, I already strive to self-select out of sits I don’t think I can manage. Like when I see “high-energy,” “hikes,” “athletic” or such in descriptions about dogs, I avoid those sits.

Or say if it’s a dog I don’t imagine being able to easily lift or restrain in an emergency or if they’re triggered, I skip those sits for my own well-being, as well as the pet’s, other animals’ and bystanders’.

@KiwiSwede ALL sitters have their ages displayed on their profile and THS automatically updates them each year. You just need to scroll down a profile- to below the written parts- to see them. (HOs do not have ages displayed…) Since this is so far down the profile we usually mention our ages and nationalities in our application message to save HOs the search.
I think a discussion about health is valid if there is no mention of it by the sitter in their profile or message, or if the HO knows that their home has quirks e g lots of stairs, or dogs are extra strong to manage etc.
After all its in everyones best interests to create a good match so that each side is happy and gets their needs met.
