Hi Maggie, we took one to Bali and France and our only regret was not buying two! We received many an envious look once people realised they were not headphones. The only thing for me as I wear hearing aids is that the highest setting was a bit noisy. I tend to run cooler than the other half who is the opposite and it was a life saver for him. We also carried a small portable usb charged stand alone fan which was also brilliant for night time and in France during the heatwaves we even had it on our table in cafes that did not have aircon.
A friend has one, I tried it this summer . The cooling function works well .
The only negative was the noise level on the high setting . It is not especially noisy, but as it’s close to your ears it can drown out other sounds. So not great for a conference , performance or event where you need to hear well or for where the noise might disturb those sitting near you .
While testing two pairs of these (gave one to my husband to test while I’m trying out my own pair) I’ve ordered another style (lighter weight, but way less battery life on one charge). Will see how each style does before traveling with them.
For anyone else who might be interested in wearable fans, I’ve received and have been trying out this style below, which I’ve found to be even better, because the two fans are adjustable on either side and the device feels less restrictive when you wear it vs. the model up top that I shared.
This model not only feels cooler, the noise level is about the same as the other model, too, which I find easily tolerable. The battery life is shorter, but I usually carry a portable battery pack anyway when sightseeing, so no biggie.
I also could see using this on a plane, say if it’s warm or smelly.
I’ve received my Venty fan and have been testing it out. Works well, but is pretty heavy – I actually own normal fans that weigh less. But I’m glad to have it nonetheless, in case I want a fan if the power goes out or we’re driving and eating outdoors. Probably won’t be packing it for trips that require flying.
Hi @Maggie8K I suspect the weight is the battery as once charged it lasted a long time, well over 12 hours. We did take it with us but had checked luggage as we were on a 3 month trip. Wouldn’t fancy it taking up carry on only space though. We have it in the car for our UK and Europe trips and it has been great especially in UK homes that don’t have AC (this year there were a few times with temps that the UK is not used to having but I guess will become more the norm).
Agreed that driving it to sits (or checking it with luggage) would be more practical than carry-on.
I tend to avoid checking baggage, though, especially on the way to somewhere. I don’t want to risk lost luggage while away from home. If they lose my bags on the way back, that’s less trouble.
Been in Japan for a few days so far with this fan (mentioned above) and LOVE it so much. It’s light and easy to wear even while walking around. And I’ve also used it on the plane and while on a tour bus to and from Mount Fuji for hours. (I’m traveling without sitting now.)
Battery life is terrific — stays charged all day, with plenty of juice left over. The adjustability of both fans is great — you can easily share with someone sitting next to you, if you like. You can run it while sitting it on a table, too.
Love the fan above. Have now tested it in parts of the U.S., Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Italy, with terrific results. Strong, variable settings and long charging life.
Yesterday, I used it while wandering Pompeii for hours on a warm, sunny day. And it worked well even in hotter, more humid settings.
Going to order a spare on return home, because I definitely don’t want to be without one. I’m now using it even while charging and it rests easily on my bed. You can even have it rest directly on your torso while lying down, because it’s easily bendy.
