A friendly heads up for anyone who doesn’t know that this July Fourth might include more fireworks than usual, because the U.S. is celebrating 250 years of independence this year. Might want to ask hosts whether their pets need extra precautions, considering the noise.
For folks who aren’t used to sitting during the holiday in the U.S., many locations include people shooting off fireworks from their homes, because they’re legal in some places. And of course, there are scofflaws as well.
I had to Google “scofflaw” as I’ve never heard that slang term. It is what it says!
A scofflaw is a person who habitually flouts or ignores the law, particularly someone who disregards minor rules, fails to pay fines, or ignores court summonses.

From this post I learned the word “scofflaw” - and much like Crookie I would have assumed it was slang! It’s a fantastic word so I’ll need to try and use it in a sentence today!
