No photos at all, minimum information, no amenities at all, how does this “slip through the cracks”?
(edited to remove link as it’s against our Community Guidelines to post other people’s listing links on the Forum - listing has been passed over to the team )
It doesn’t make any sense. It appears they filled out the most basic of the information just to get a profile up there.
It’s rather surprising how the THS software allowed it to be “live” especially with the new requirements that state a host must upload photos in specific categories with captions.
I’m sure once all those booking fees come rolling in all of these software glitches will be fixed.
I mentioned this one in the Home Owner Update thread a couple of days ago but didn’t specifically say where it was @Cathie. I could have reported it but am over doing THS’s work for them - unless I charge them $18 for each one I report
It doesn’t surprise me, the coding of the website is generally very poor and it shouldn’t be possible for a listing with so much mandatory information to go live. It’s a simple logic check. Maybe THS will use the increased revenue from sitter and host booking fees to improve the website, but there’s nothing in the history to suggest that will happen. I do wonder how safe my data is with THS and I suspect the answer is not very.
The last one I reported had no internal photos or the exterior of the house; only 10 photos of the cat! HO had 11 five star reviews with 10 of them in 2025 and listing went into reviewing with a sitter chosen. Listing has not been updated as of now.
The Membership Services person replied they had contacted the owner but couldn’t act on it while the listing was live! Isn’t that the point of reporting them?? I know others I have reported have been taken down and either updated or listing has been removed. Inconsistency from MS agents is quite apparent.
The last one I reported stated clearly that the wife would be away and the husband enjoyed meeting new people (he’d be staying in the house). It had 3 applicants!!
A lot of sits “slip through the cracks.” There are people regularly reporting them on outside sites which IMO is not a great look for THS. A report button would certain help!
I think if you need this much privacy this is maybe not the site for you. The description was sorely lacking too. Come and sit for me, but I’ll tell you nothing about my house or pets, really? How is that a fair exchange? Then newbies take it on knowing no better and every one is dissatisfied.
I don’t see anything wrong with removing photos when the listing is not active. This would only impact people looking for sits to save. If there are active dates that’s another matter. I don’t usually bother to take off my photos between active listings, but I can understand completely why a homeowner would want to do this.
Trusted housesitters offers thumbnail photos of actual homes in its advertising. The listings are also public through the links and can be perused by people with “free” accounts. That’s a lot of personal data out there.
Let’s get real for a minute and remember the possible gray zone that THS sometimes operates in. Some rentals, HOAs, etc might mistakenly believe the site is a form of homesharing against their rules.
@Marion pretty sure it was active with dates and two applications when I saw it. That’s why I was boggled. I agree privacy is not the strong point of THS.
