I’m returning to THS after last using it in 2022. Looking at the differences in memberships and quite a bit has changed. When I was last here, I had the mid tier membership that included a background check and basic tier did not. I no longer see background checks under any of the tiers. Is that still a thing?
My understanding is that for all U.S. members (no matter the tier), it is required and takes place (you have to click through agreeing and all that) and you get the badge on your profile after it comes back clear (not sure what the “clear” standard covers). Other countries its not an option, only ID Verification.
Welcome back @vquack. Background checks are compulsory for US sitters only, irrespective of their tier. Otherwise, it’s not included now as far as I know.
Do some reading either on the forum or on the website re changes that have occurred since 2022 before rejoining, including the introduction of a booking fee. Make sure you read the Terms of Service as there’s some surprises there.
Does anyone know why the background checks are compulsory only for U.S. sitters? I’m Canadian and I know when we first became sitters eleven years ago, we always brought background checks with us to show the homeowners. We had background checks done as we were both volunteers in our community. Haven’t been asked or shown them in many years.
@vquack, @Globetrotter - to our knowledge then background checks are performed for US members and for Duo Sitter members. When we became Duo Sitters then we had provide various government identity documents to become ‘verified’ on THS platform. But we had been on platform for couple years by that time, and do not recall earlier background check. If relevant, we are Canada/UK citizens.
