Revisiting THS insurance

I’ve been reviewing the THS insurance and have a few concerns. It states that they have to be notified within 24 hours of the incident. That seems unreasonable to me given when something unexpected happens there is much to deal with and notifying the insurance company within 24 hours may slip your mind. Also,'it also states they only cover damage by dogs and cats but many house sits have many other kinds of animals, including large animals like horses. So if a horse, or any other animal, causes damage there is no coverage? Am I missing something? Any thoughts would be welcome.

That seems to be how it is intended. Notify THS within 24 hours. It’s insurance so the more restrictive and harder to claim the cheaper it is. I’m not sure but there may have been a post a while back from someone saying they were unable to claim as the animal that caused damage was not a cat or dog. I could also be imagining that.

The owner should have their own liability insurance that cover damage done by their horses etc. But things are different in different countries.

It’s common for insurers to require notification within 24 hours after an incident if you want to make a claim. They want fresh accounts, memories, etc., not when you get around to it and things might be fuzzy or forgotten. If the damage requires visual inspection, they also don’t want any of that to deteriorate or be exposed to weather if it’s avoidable.
