Perhaps clarify whether you’re referring to Seattle Washington or Seattle West Coast? Quite a lot of potential for confusion for sitters.

I live in Seattle and it’s a hugely dog-friendly city. It often surprises people to hear that there are more dogs in Seattle than school age children.

I’m not a fan of off leash dog parks but we do have a couple of awesome ones that I’ll share.

Marymoor Park is on the eastside, in Redmond. It’s a huge off leash area, with open fields and some access to swimming in the Sammamish River. Just outside of the off leash area is a full doggy wash spot. There are sometimes doggy food carts there too.
You would need a car to access Marymoor and it can be crowded on weekends.

Magnuson off leash park is in the city, and it has the only legal in city spot for dogs to swim (in Lake Washington). You can get to Magnuson via the bus if your dog will ride the bus without bothering others.

Another spot with access to swimming in Lake Washington is Luther Burbank Park on Mercer Island. It’s a large area and they have a couple of doggy rinse stations.

In Ballard there is the Dog Yard Bar where you can bring your dog, let them run around off leash, and have yourself a beer or cider.

There is also the dog-friendly Barking Dog Alehouse (also in Ballard)

For great on leash walks in the city with views of Elliott Bay my favorites are Discovery Park, Lincoln Park, and Carkeek Park.

Close to Seattle are tons of hikes and the Washington Trails Association has an awesome hike finding map where you can filter for dog-friendly hikes.

During the summer months you can even take public transit to trail heads and if your dog is well-behaved they can ride the shuttle.

The Washington coast is a few hours drive from Seattle, but once there you can let your dog run free on our wide sandy coastline. Favorite spots for that are Ocean Shores, Westport, Moclips, Cape Disappointment.

That’s it for now. I’m sure I’ll think of more and will come back when I do.

I’m happy to answer Seattle dog questions.

Not sure what you’re referring to @BJane as there is no such place as “Seattle West Coast”.

I’ve lived here all my life and there is only one Seattle.

Seattle is dog friendly. The University Village shopping area is nice and many stores are dog friendly. Just to the north the waterfront town of Edmonds has a dog beach on the Salish Sea. If you take a dog on a ferry to Kingston there is another dog friendly beach just north of the ferry landing. Ferry is also dog friendly.
