Sitter canceled no explanation

Be sure the review strongly states how she abandoned a dog. What if you were not able to get the message right away. The dog could have been left without food and water for days. I find what she did criminal and if THS keeps her on the platform then I would be furious and question if I would continue with the platform as a PP.

All good advice. I’m flagging this to the moderators in case there is any further assistance from THS they could help with @Jenny @Mark_B

I’m so sorry this is happening to you during your deployment.

I don’t know all the ins and outs for posting a sit. But I am wondering how could the OP post a sit that partially overlaps the original sit dates because that is what is showing now and no previous sitter shows. This leads me to conclude that THS cancelled the sit instead of adjusting dates so now a review of the abandoning sitter cannot be done. Unless they have decided upon a Jan 31 end date so it wouldn’t show until tomorrow.

I talked to THS, showed them the messages that were sent to me from the sitter. They recommended that the sit end on 31st rather than 25 April due to the clear cancelationfrom the sitter with no explanation. And they recommend that i should post another sit a couple days or weeks after. Since I had back ups plans, I posted a sit for the 24th Feb to give time for a new sitter to respond while Maverick is safely with other caring people. The last sit just ended a few minutes ago.

Yes this is me. Sorry for the issues

Yes, that was the sitter. I wasn’t getting active responses from the others, as much as she was messaging anyways. You’re right I shouldn’t have picked the one with lowest reviews and fake reviews… I learned my lesson.

Wow thanks for all the tips! I’ll fix what I can for now and hopefully spice it up. I should get pictures of the basement, I’m very transparent about anything. I jumped on this short notice because Dogs on Deployment website was a total bust. No one responded for months. I’ll try and make this a proper listing. Apologies for the haphazard photos.

Do remove photos showing untidiness and room without a bed then get a friend to tidy up, make up a bed and make it look appealing. Also explain what medication administration is required (pill, injection etc), frequency and what for.
I would use my heading saying something like ā€œKind Sitter Needed as Already Deployed Overseasā€ then in first sentence of Introduction put about your dog and home being abandoned by your sitter.

Thank you for your service and so sorry you had a terrible sitter.

Is your husky good with other dogs and cats? If so, we may be able to help until end of March, then we are gone ourselves. DM if that works, but really a sitter would be best for the whole time (we are also gone a couple of weekends in March).

We are in SoCal so we’d have to figure out how to get your pup …

That picture of the cluttered office with every surface covered and a caption that says ā€œplease ask before using desktopā€ was the funniest thing I’ve read all week.

Sorry to hear of your experience.

The cluttered untidy way your listing is currently presented is very unlikely to appeal to experienced sitters who have great reviews and are available for long sits .

This picture of the - unmade bed with the captionā€ I don’t know where the bedding is happy to send moreā€ - is very off putting.

THS is about mutual exchange so you need to make your next sitter feel like a welcome guest .

Please do order that bedding now ( Amazon next day delivery ? ) sitters will need two sets of bedding for a long stay -

If you (or a family member ) organise a cleaner to come and clean and tidy the apartment , put away all the pots and pans and clutter , clear the office , make the bed etc. Then ask a friend / family member to retake the photos, that will give you the best chance of appealing to a responsible sitter who will take good care of your pets .

Also, strongly advise you NOT to cancel the sit…just ask TH to shorten it/update your dates. That way you can still leave feedback on the sitter’s profile. If you cancel it there is no way to warn others.

Im not sure about cats unfortunately, he has very limited experience with cats so genuinely dont know. His last encounter was as a puppy and his nose got scratched up. Ill keep that in mind though, thank you.

I rechecked your listing and it now shows the sitter with the sit date ending yesterday. Please, please, please leave a review within 14 days. Even the worst review possible won’t get the sitter removed from the platform. So please consider the additional step of initiating a member dispute. This must be incredibly stressful for you to deal with from a distance. Fingers crossed for this to resolve successfully for you.

That’s fair, I took a lot photos just in the moment trying to get everything i needed to get ball rolling for the approval process. I unfortunately did not take pictures after everything got cleaned up. And now I definitely cant take new pictures without some friends coming by and helping me out.

You’re doing yourself more harm than good with those pictures.

As well as that odd rule that sitters must contact you before they use the desktop.

Copy that, working on it. Its difficult to manage while away. But im actively engaged as much as I can be.

@Akbeckham86 I think you’re doing a great job dealing with the stress and subsequent effects of your sitter leaving your dog and you in the lurch when you are far away and on a very important mission. Just do what you can, when you can and I hope your friends can help you in presenting your home in a more attractive manner.
