Sitter canceled no explanation

@Akbeckham86 I think you’re doing a great job dealing with the stress and subsequent effects of your sitter leaving your dog and you in the lurch when you are far away and on a very important mission. Just do what you can, when you can and I hope your friends can help you in presenting your home in a more attractive manner.

I totally agree with @temba, it’s not easy trying to do what @Akbeckham86 is trying to do under such difficult circumstances. I defy anyone to do better. Good luck to you mate, I hope you find someone to sort this mess out and have your beautiful dog cared for whilst you serve your country :beating_heart:

The sitter just left yesterday stateside or about 2 days ago my time. My priority these last few days was safety of Maverick. I am tasking the house issues now.

Unfortunately, I dont have many methods to go search for where the sitter left things or moved things. I have coordinated a friend to come by and help me out when they have time. I would appreciate not taking half of the context from the description of the photos. The last sitter wanted the bed free and clear because they brought their own bedding. There are, or were, 4 sets of bedding and pillows originally in the room. The person who picked up Maverick, said the room was empty and didnt see anything I was asking about.

This is more of an immediate change of situations that was unplanned. I am working to do all the things you and others have mentioned, I promise.

Apologies for the poor quality photos taken to get the listing posted back in December, I had little time then too. A different issue with a different site caused me to pivot to THS. I recognize it was bad decision and got the wrong person interested. And I am sorry I bought a fixer upper house, or photos of perfect rooms at the moment, and I live alone with Maverick now due to some recent life events. And I had a sitter who just abandoned things with no explanation.

Thank you for the tips. I value the input.

I sympathise with your predicament - you are already abroad and your sitter has left unexpectedly leaving you in the lurch.

My comments whilst frank are intended to be helpful . The majority of sitters are NOT members of the forum , so when they see the listing , they won’t know the background of what has happened . They will just see the listing and as it is will be put off by the current photos …and captions and scroll by.

My suggestion to increase your chances of finding a great sitter and not another unsuitable sitter; would be to pause the listing and re-list when the home is prepared and ready for the next sitter . Then ask someone to take new photos and relist.

At the very least use a photo editor and put captions right in the photos with a brief explanation that can’t be missed.

Not understanding why you can’t hire a housekeeper to go over there and get everything sorted. You could give them a few bucks to pick up the missing bedding and whatever else.

The last thing you need to be dealing with while deployed is a home situation. Im retired Air Force. I currently live in NC. If I can help reach out.

Also, reach out to your First Sgt and see if they can have a family in your squadron help out until your home.

This person needs to be takennoff the books of THs and mrmberdhip canceld asap. One thing a sitter should never even consider is not doing what they are there for and then abandoning the animal. Absolutely disgusting behavior.
I do hope you have been Able to find help for the remainder of the sit:slightly_smiling_face:

OMG I’m only seeing this now, but I know I’m not alone in wishing I could swoop in and help. Hope you have solved the problem. And so sorry your sitter turned out to be a dud. Hope it’s fixed and the replacement is perfect. Especially hope your pup is fine. Hope the original sitter got kicked off the platform and you got compensated financially…. but most importantly, I truly hope your pup is okay and you feel confident of their safety and affection during your deployment.

Updated photos and had a cleaning service come and fixed the things the last sitter left. Still no sitter yet.

Since you’ve updated the images, I would remove the first paragraph. And I would remove this one below:

“Apologies for the chaos my house looks like in the photos, I took a lot of photos in the moment to get the approval process going and forgot to update photos. I should have a friend swinging by soon to take some newer photos.”

The first paragraph puts me off, as my mind wonders why the house sitter abandoned the sit. I know the history here, but anyone looking cold may be suspicious.

Also, I would want to know a bit about Maverick’s temperament. I couldn’t see anything about that. These are just suggestions. Good luck.

The place looks 100% better so well done on that front. Just some tweaks with the wording as per suggestions above. Please choose a sitter this time based on their experience and reviews and not simply because they’re available. Good luck.
