Stop All The Whining

Well, it is a design issue. It is poor interface design to have these two different URLs to (almost but not quite) the same page.

And it is incredible that this 100 million GBP web company does not seem to be able to fix such issues with their user interface.

Please don’t forget the catties!

@Maggie - ‘the red karen flag’ . . . After discovering the ‘ignore user’ button, my existence on this forum has become utter zen. :innocent:

@Maggie - Yup! Click on The Offender’s name. This will take you to their profile, at the top right of which you can click on ‘normal’. This is a drop-down menu that then reveals ‘mute’ and ‘ignore’ . You can also mute threads. . . . Peace out. :innocent:

Probably spending too much time on the forums but feel like agreeing with this today. I get there are sometimes real problems with messy, dirty homes, but I’ve read one too many forum post where hosts were out of sorts because the linens weren’t cleaned or sitters felt insulted because they weren’t warned about scented litter (even though they didn’t bring it up before the sit).

Also think I want to add some unsolicited advice to sitters (or vent): Recently I posted a sit. I declined a few people outright and let others know I’d go through stuff and get back to them soon. I had questions for a couple of people if something wasn’t clear from their emails. One of my cats has a chronic condition. This is mentioned on the listing, but AFTER the listing was posted he had an emergency and suddenly his treatment moving forward was going to be changed and his initial condition was uncertain. I let everyone know what was happening and I was going to wait till I knew more before moving forward. As things evolved, I realized it would be at least a couple of weeks before we’d have clarity, so suddenly I needed to make sure the sitter would be comfortable with insulin injections (if it came to that) and/or an off-label chemo drug (if it came to that). Rather than writing a group letter, I approached one sitter who I felt pretty confident in to see if she’d still be interested with the uncertainty. She was! Yay! So I met with her for a chat and as she was willing and able to roll with the punches told her to give me till morning so I could notify the others. I did, with an individually written explaination to each that referenced previous emails and included the stress I’d been under the past week managing vet visits, glucose monitoring, and trying to do everything I could to keep my pet out of the hospital, and how my decision to not do a bunch of video chats or prolong this was made. I also made it clear that if they were still interested in future sits they would definitely be considered. Out of five people 1 didn’t get back to me which is fine. Three got back to me with human responses including hope that my cat was feeling better, and one got back to me with a response that was kind of “you could have at least spoken to me” kind of resentment. Guess who is now on my nope/never list!

I’ve been thinking of this post. I’m getting ready for a long trip. Gathering all the tourist maps, events, deep cleaning the house, buying gift cards, writing a thank you note. It feels to me a bit like Christmas. All the anticipation of a great holiday.
Thankful for our sitters who are returning so we are stress free.

A post was split to a new topic: My sitter cancelled and my claim was denied
