I never would have guessed a peg is what we know as a clothes pin! How funny. It has been so long since I’ve seem one it took a while to recall what we call those things. Thank you for humoring me.
You just need to be a little older to remember the old clothes pegs. Unfortunately I am that old.
What is with the lack of TP? I am on a sit and no TP supply, for a week. None. I do have some, luckily since it is 12 miles to the store. But really? That is why I travel with supplies.
Aw, just forget about it! I take TP proactively since reading here about the ups and downs of TP supplies! Ha! It’s weird but true, so whatever! Right?
When I was sitting in TX last winter, all the sits had Costco stocks like it was covid. And apparently he rents out his place as an airbnb. So you would think there is stock. But I think he locks it away.
sounds so inhospitable and would love to avoid that type of HO!
I found a couple of rolls in the master bath, so he won’t have any when he gets back or maybe he will bring some. But there should have been some in my bathroom.
Sounds like he had his airbnb hat on. No pay no TP!!
Sadly there are multiple threads about lack of toilet paper
If only that was the worst issue in the world! Oh that’s right, it was in 2020!
I sincerely doubt that it was on purpose. Probably just slipped his mind to check how much was left in the guest bathroom.
I just got back from a sit today - I saw they had a dishwasher so went to stack it after our dinner. only to find it being used as a larder with rows of tins and jars!!! So it was out with the marigolds:rofl:![]()
Is it something in the water? I have been looking at a date filler between my arrival in CA, after eastcoast Thanksgiving and my first sit Dec 8th. First there was one, who got back to me, thought I was great, was going to schedule a chat, then nothing. Then got back to me weeks later, scheduled a chat and the night before, declined me. Said sorry the dates didn’t work out and she was confused. She didn’t know she declined me, offered me other dates in Oct. Figure it was not a good fit. Then a few more came up. Some haven’t read my application in a few days. Some got back to me and thought I was great, would get back to me, then radio silence. Another was over a week ago, read, nothing. It is in the LA area, so I assume there will be more, so I don’t really care, but I have not had this kind of interaction en masse just for a 3/4 day sit. Maybe I should just stay east at my BIL’s a few more days…
I bring my own kitchen towels. That way if I have a mishap at least it’s my ruined towel.
We did a sit where we found there wasn’t a single dishwasher tablet. Not one! The HOs informed us us they ‘Don’t use it’“ so clearly didn’t feel it appropriate to leave any supplies for the sitters (despite it being listed as an amenity). We went straight out and bought dishwasher salt, rinse aid and tablets.
Weirdly enough, I’m also experiencing several rejections in a row for the first time! Then I got an invite, so I don’t think k it’s my profile, but what? And no note or communication from 60% of them…just automated canned text. Humm. Must be in the water, indeed.
Not rejections, just limbo.
I did a sit there once.
It could have gone either way. But I bent over backwards to make it work.
My irritations aren’t that small, nor are they directed toward the hosts or the accommodations, but rather other dog walkers. After two weeks (with seven more to go) of walking a large dog, I’ve worked up a real fury toward other large dog walkers for:
- Walking their large dogs off leash, yet there are big “Keep your dog on a leash at all times” signs posted every 50 meters (not to mention the tons of picnic tables and playgrounds for small children).
- Not picking up the mess after their big dogs, instead leaving it in its full glory right in the middle of a very narrow concrete walk path almost impossible to navigate. (This just happened a few minutes ago, which is what compelled me to write this post … grrrr
)
I just did a dog sit in the Thousand Islands, no pick up. And I had 2 large dogs. No bags to pick up, but no sidewalks either. And there was a field across the street and other “woodsy” area. It felt like the 60s again, where no one picked up.
