It’s available in Kindle, audio, hardcover and paperback formats. I just picked up a copy from the library and I’m taken in at the first page. I think it’s going to be a fast and very good read.
Would you be interested in meeting to discuss it on any of these dates?
Monday, 6 Oct
Tuesday, 7 Oct
Monday, 13 Oct
Tuesday, 14 Oct
Hi Maeve. I will be on a sit (first time in Nova Scotia!) for the dates but should be able to join regardless.
BTW, am I the only one amused by the contrasting titles of our last book and this one?
Say Nothing vs Tell Me Everything.
Yes @MaggieUU , I did smile at the contrasting titles of this and the previous book!
I should be able to do any of these dates. The boys have Explorer Scouts on a Monday, but I normally wouldn’t have to set off to take them there until after the end of the book club if it is at the usual time.
In this book the author creates real people with quirky personalities —-like most of us. Her characters are fully formed, you feel like you know them. The title character in her book, Olive Kitteridge, also appears. Shes now 90, still a curmudgeon and living in a nursing home.
For a glimpse inside this world, take a look at this trailer:
Rotten Tomatoes gave this a 94. I saw the minisieries a while ago and thought it was wonderful. It’s on HBO.
Let’s meet on the 7th of October to discuss this book, so put it on your calendar. As always, I’ll send the Google Meet link two days ahead. Looking forward to this one!
Thank you for organising, unfortunately I didn’t know that the next book had been chosen - I must have missed it somehow - or that the date would be 7th October. Unfortunately I’m in Japan for work so I won’t be able to make the meet up (and I haven’t read the book!). Please do keep me in the loop for the next pick and I’ll hopefully be at that meeting.
Next Sunday the 5th, I’ll send the Google Meet link by DM to those who’ve expressed interest in the book club, and I’ll add you to this list. I’ll also post here at that time and since you’ve added your post to this topic, you should get a notification.
The meeting is set for Tuesday the 7th. See the table above for the time in your location.
It’ll be great to meet you! I hope you’re enjoying this book as much as we are.
To let you know — I’ve DM’d the Google Meet link for this Tuesday’s book discussion. If you haven’t received it and would like to attend, please reply and I’ll send it to you
Book Club Discussion: Tell Me Everything
Tuesday, 7 Oct
See the time table below for the meeting time in your location:
Hi all, I am relatively new to the forum and completely new to the TH book club. I love books so definitely would like to take part in this, however, not sure if this is digital - zoom or FaceTime etc? I am currently a bit housebound with a sore hip/back so would be able to read the book in the next couple of days.
I enjoyed our discussion of this book. @susiesav , glad you were able to join us with just a day’s notice.
In small town, Maine, Strout made the ordinary and mundane fascinating. She created complex characters in simple and straightforward language. What a gifted writer, I plan to read her other books.
Sorry I didn’t make it this time. My son had a Geography field trip with school and I had to pick him up right in the middle of the book club time!
I have to admit I didn’t quite connect with the book this time. I’m not sure why, I think perhaps I found the writing style a little flat and it didn’t draw me in as it might have done, despite the content being interesting. I did enjoy the Bob & Matt relationship. I may read it again at some point to work out what didn’t quite work for me!
@Debbie , We missed you at the discussion. It’s inevitable that some books will be more relatable than others, though this was one I particularly liked. Because of this group, I’ve read things I might otherwise never have read, and it’s broadened my knowledge.
Please take a look at these possibilities for our next book. If none of these grab you, please add others.
