She initially stated she was a freelance pattern designer
I have no idea what that entails, but maybe she has to inspect something in person? If you want to know, she’d be the best person to ask.
In my case, I’ve done my current career for decade+ at exec level and am fully remote. But there have been instances when I had to be in the office even last minute. And I have it easier than some exec peers, who often must appear in person last minute.
Thanks for the explanation
I guess freelance workers often could be more dependent on making their clients happy at any given time than full time employees.
A friend of mine had her own business and was self-employed for years, with very happy and loyal customers. So I would think she could safely have her vacation and everybody would be happy for her getting some time off. Regardless, if someone called her for an appointment during her holiday she would take them in and pop in at her office for them. She said that that is what she needed to do. She could never take customers for granted. If they went to someone else one time, they might not come back.
