I believe the new addition Doberman has only been there 5 weeks and not 5 months The second to last sit was in November 2025 and there is no mention of the 2nd dog in the sitter’s review. So it would appear that the second dog arrived sometime between November 14, 2025 and January 22, 2026.
Yes, I think the error/”typo” was the sitter saying 5 months in one instance. He meant 5 weeks.
Any kind of medical condition, not just mental health could react badly when missing medication. Diabetics can become quite unlike themselves, certain infections can cause irrational reactions. Simply the fact that you know you are not at your best could cause worry when driving someone else’s pet.
The venting might not have gone to plan considering the research forum members put in to get the full picture of the situation.
Having followed this post for a while, and also read the reviews and responses both ways, I’ve come to the conclusion that this young man sounds like a sincere person who experienced an exceptionally unfortunate situation (getting broken in to and robbed en route) but was honourable and committed enough to do everything in his power to proceed with the sit and not let the HO down at the last minute. He overcame his own misfortune and perhaps serious discomfort (no meds) to honour his commitment and did his best to organise his earlier departure.
The HO on the other hand comes across as harsh, demanding, unsympathetic and with unreasonable expectations. (Driving the dogs elsewhere etc) This may not be how they are in reality but it certainly comes across that way in their review of him and response to him. No Grace is shown at all.
As a sitter I would not choose to sit for this HO but if I was an HO I would certainly give this sitter a chance.
I too noticed that he initially stated 5 weeks, then changed it to 5 months. We’ve no way of knowing which is correct so cannot dismiss it as a typo, when it may have been a significant fact.
I completely agree with you, @Lokstar .
Actually, see my post above. It is 5 weeks as per last 2 sit dates.
Interesting how the OP has gone mum
I do feel bad for the op. To get caught red handed must be very stressful and hard to deal with. Those emotions are difficult to work with, even though op did mislead us, more or less on purpose. Some of us (me included) treat things like these as amusements, instead of first and foremost treating the op as a fellow human being. It is know and proven that this kind of treatment causes pain that is equivalent to being physically harmed. I dont see an easy recovery, so I am not surprised that the op has taken distance to this.
Count me out. I don’t view this disastrous sit which went horribly wrong for both parties as “amusing”.
