Very distinguished gentleman cat

I’m on a sit right now looking after a very elderly gentleman cat (I knew this before I took the sit). I go to check on him regularly in his bed to make sure he’s still alive and I think I nearly gave him a heart attack today. Advantages are that he can’t run away because he can’t move fast! He still loves his treats though.

When we visit my husband’s mother, she is startled and she jumps whenever one of us enters the room. So now when I approach from around a corner, I say “Beep beep beep” to gently let her know I’m coming. You could try making a little noise for the cat ahead of suddenly appearing. :heart_eyes_cat:

I once took care of a REALLY old cat in NOLA. She basically never moved from her spot on a chair on the porch except to use the litter box. We were going to get a major storm and drop in temperature so I had to go out there and build her a blanket fort so she’d have a warm cozy nest to hunker down in because she didn’t want to come inside.

I did a sit with 5 cats and the one was 21 years old. The others much younger and I bought a wand toy to play with the cats and the mostly blind, deaf and teetering skinny 21 year old cat was the one that chased the darn thing. It was fun to see him come to life to chase it, but I was also concerned the chase would kill him! Suffice it to say, he survived thank goodness.
