I loved this idea for a summertime sit. Pet Olympics! This dog is cutting the mustard!
Any other ideas for entertaining our charges in a healthy way?
If only our dog liked water like this. The only time he got into the pool at one of our old homes, he fell in, because he was trying to catch a lizard.
And he once chased a mole onto the pool cover, so I had to rescue the poor thing.
To keep our dog entertained and exercised, we take him to various parks and outings several times a week, in addition to his daily walks. He loves novelty, maybe because he was wandering as a stray while young. But he’s also always happy to return home, also maybe because he was a stray.
During winter, if it snows, my husband digs out paths for him to run around and get chased, trying to entice him outdoors with fun, because he doesn’t like snow.
So I’m at a new sit and I have three living rugs to look after and keep clean and well groomed. The weather is fine .. at the moment but still chances of water and mud with big puddles and a river… oh and a rather large swimming pool! Freddy, the two year old Labradoodle loves a swim after a hot walk..
so begins my relaxing three day sit!
It’s interesting I’m with three dogs. Only one willingly goes out in the rain! That’s a no from two Spanish waterdogs!
Then I came across this… well I’m deaf so I couldn’t possibly comment!
Anyone else come across this fact? Thoughts?
Our dog hates rain and snow. He loves sun, including sitting out in desert heat.
My next sit begins on Thursday. Rain in Spain is becoming quite widespread, turning to snow in higher, colder spots. Great news for skiers! I’m driving 6 1/2 hours south so at least the rain will feel warmer!
Yes, I’ve checked the Spaniel is all weather !
Water dogs or dry weather walkers? For two weeks it’s a game changer.
Our girl would swim until she literally passes out; however we don’t have our own pool and community pools where we are do not allow dogs. We regularly bring her to a dog beach 45 minutes away (but don’t require or even ask sitters to do this, due to the distance, time, and sand cleanup involved!)
We live close to a ski resort, but our dog likes it only when there’s no snow. Preferably when someone has dropped food.
The only time he was in our pool at a previous house, he fell in while hunting for a lizard.
He loved to stand above the pool, looking down from a stepped wall. Funny, he looked like he was posing as he shuffled around, but actually liked to sniff the wind from various directions, scenting for deer, foxes and such.
When we’ve taken him to the beach on day trips, he always likes to stay on the sand and avoid the water. He likes to sniff washed up seaweed and jellyfish.
