What do you think of the latest THS video?

I’m not quite sure what to make of it, it does seem rather childish. The thing that worries me is that it could give some owners the impression that sitters might groom their pets.
If you haven’t seen it, here’s a link:

Agreed and the over the top American accent in combination with the artificial intelligence is really annoying
It’s a no for me :prohibited:

Oh, I do want to be a sitter! To get to please hosts who have made their pets crazy needy! And who are constantly texting me “tell how it is going”! Sounds like a dream! “Playing all afternoon” sorry when did I get to explore the area?

What is this commercial selling to sitters? Why would a sitter become interested after this one?

In general (from perspective of someone who is already hooked on THS) this is whimsical and light, yes somewhat childish and silly, but I like the aesthetes. Just not the message…

Marketing money maybe better spent on improving UI and IT?

Yeah, because we all want more available sits in the US :person_facepalming:

Yes, THS seems to have gone from selling themselves to people who just want to travel and forget about the pets to staying at home all day with them.

What is UI?

User Interface.

@Smiley I must have missed in the updated T & C that we were replacing professional pet groomers and paying for the privilege of providing this service for free

Glad to see all that extra fee money, is being put to such good use

@temba @Smiley today I read this listing. On top of, can’t be left alone longer than 2 hrs. Yep, we are now groomers and servants it seems. Maybe peel some grapes and serve caviar as well?

Marketing is often geared toward the average intelligence of the target market which is estimated to be in the range of an average elementary school student.

@Smiley it dropped into my emails a couple of days ago, haven’t watched it, couldn’t be bothered based on THS’s current run of “improvements”. I don’t need more disappointment. I’ll have a look at it when I need to have a laugh.

It’s definitely worth watching - they explain how they improved the search function, speeded up notifications, weeded out any non-compliant sits and just how all of the extra income has vastly improved the experience for sitters and owners…

Ok, just kidding. It’s a nauseating video that implies sitters will be at the constant beck and call of the pet/owners.

I can now go to bed having had a good laugh @Rhe. Thank you!

. How do you spell WTF?

I don’t see a problem with a host putting out a schedule for their pets nor do I see a problem with the host requesting that the sitter wash their pet’s paws and run a brush through their hair. Some pet owners love and care for their pets very much, they give them lots of attention, they respect that pets need to be on a comfortable familiar schedule, and expect a sitter to treat their pets with the same level of care.

I do see a problem with a sitter belittling and making fun of hosts who make reasonable requests and don’t force a sitter to apply to their listing.

Now, how much would all that cost?
It’s probably the sort of thing we’d be doing anyway, but it’s the way it’s all listed that is off putting.

You’re on the wrong page @idocsteve, this is for sitters to have a vent and we do it light heartedly

This thread is in the sitter advice category. It isn’t in the “ridicule hosts” subforum.
